| What in your opinion makes a successful homepage? Is it all based on SEO. Should the main objective be to click on the side bar menu links or should it be to sign up for the newsletter? Please share. |

Main objective should be for people to see what the site is about as soon as they arrive at the home page, and definitely for the newsletter signup to be there too. I think it's best to have the most important stuff above the fold of the page - the bit they first see in their browser.
After this, there's so many important things. SEO is important, but remember to try to optimise all the pages you add for as many different keywords as possible - not just your homepage. |

I would say it depends on what the creator's definition of 'successful' is
People create websites for different reasons, but as long as the desired outcome is reached one could say that one has been successful. |
