Hi Angela!
Your site is really coming along very nicely!
I think it would be nice to have a "Home" button on each page to take me back without having to use the browser's navigational aids.
I'm curious about the use of AdSense on your home page. I personally think it should not be on the home page. Visitors may click away from your site before they even know what else your site contains. AdSense also serves better on sub-pages because they are more focused on a topic, therefore your AdSense would be better targeted. Just MHO. (I'd like to hear other people's feedback on this. . .think I'll start another thread )
Very nice work overall, and a quite informative and friendly site!
Please keep us posted!

Hi Griff,
Thanks for the opinion. How do I go about putting a "home" button on each page? My techie skills are limited.
I wondered about the adsense on my home page. I wanted to fill in some space. I wonder about using some affliate links I have instead. I'll do an experiment.
Thanks again

Hello Angela!
I just got back here and was going to answer your question about putting a "home" button on your pages, but I see you've already aced it (good for you)!
The only thing I'd suggest about it is to shorten it to "Home" and move the link into your "Pages" menu for two reasons: 1. you will only have to make one link that will show on any page you display your menu (less work for you), and; 2. Your visitors will ALWAYS know where to look for it since it will be in the same place on every page (less work for them). Everybody wins.
Also noticed:
Your AdSense source script is showing on your "LPN Advocate" page, not actual ads. . .(but perhaps you were working on this at the time I visited.)
All links in "Education", "Employment", "News and Views" and "Union" lead away from your site with only the browser navigation to bring them back. You may want to consider having them open in an iframe or new sub-window so your site remains as the "base" visitors will be returned to.
Hope this helps, and keep up the good work!

Hi Griff,
I can't see any adsense script when I load my page...hmmm. Not sure if they are still there or what, I did this in the middle of the night at work. Gotta do something to stay awake while the rest of the world is fast asleep.
I'll do my best to figure out how to make my links open up in a different window, it irritates me too. Another project for 2 AM.
Thanks for the help.

Hi Angela,
I beg a thousand pardons: the referenced adsense script is on your "About the Author" page, not the "LPN Advocate" page. I apologize for my error (long hours here, too, heh, heh!) Note: I am viewing the page in the latest version of FireFox browser.
As for opening those links in a new window, here is some basic HTML code to do it:
<a href="http://www.yourdomain.com" TARGET="_blank">Your Text</a>
where you replace the red text with your specifics, e.g. the "Education" link for Bow Valley College becomes:
<a heref="http://www.bowvalleycollege.ca/courses_programs/hcc/index.htm" TARGET="_blank">Bow Valley College</a>
(Please note that the above is all one continuous line of code although the forum's word wrapping may make it appear as two.)
You can customize the code to adjust the window parameters (size, position, scrollable, etc.). For a wealth of additional HTML coding helps/tutorials (and much more) start here:

Hope this helps, and again, I'm sorry for the page confusion regarding the adsense script.

Thanks Griff,
I'll work on doing what you suggested. Thanks for the link....saves me a ton of time trying to figure it out myself.
I'll let you know how it all turns out.

You are Right.
Hi chastill
Your request has me confused. You requested a review for an affiliate site. If you own the site, only the main page is allowed to be linked here.
If you do not own the site, then the site owners should be requesting review since they are the only ones who can make any changes to it. |
