Hi everyone,
I'm an affiliate with Allposters.com and have designed my own site. I also was using a datafeed script that I had purchased, that you can still view. The problem with a datafeed script is that you cannot put a meta tag description of each category page. I can only use the same tags on every page in my datafeed. You can review the 2 sites at http:/www.mikemart.com and http://www.artcovegallery.com. I know with the datafeed my site gets crawled like crazy, often over 3000 hits per month, but wasn't selling very much. I guess my biggest question is how do I get more traffic to my site? Would like some advise. Thanks

| I had another art gallery that was trying to sell scultptures, but didn't so I uploaded the datafeed to http://www.artcovegallery.com. Could you tell me which site you like best. My other site is http://www.mikemart.com. Thanks |

My observations: The Mikemart site looks pretty good except for 3 things.
The bottom row is a bit too tall... shorten it up to the same height as the other columns on the page.
Widen your columns to stretch the page across the browser screen a bit more, OR center the Table in the browser window. It looks a bit lopsided.

Delete these from your Welcome at the top of the page, otherwise, what's to stop them from going to AllPosters website and seeing Everything offered there? Also, the customer is not concerned with supporting your website, they are concerned with getting what they want.
Deleting these will also make your 'Welcome' look less crowded. I didn't even want to read it, it was so crammed and jammed looking. Break the paragraph up at "Select from truly..."
The very first line of your code is showing at the top of your page... fix your code so this doesn't happen.
OK... Second site. Actually is a nicer looking site at first glance EXCEPT you're making us scroll sideways to see all the page. Set your page width at 100% so the whole page is viewable in browser windows. Rosalind mentioned in one of the previous posts that people get annoyed at this and will just go on to the next site in the search list... That was one of the rules I learned in web development classes... No sideways scrolling EVER... unless you don't care about traffic or sales. Fix that and see how you do.
Nice sites... I'll bookmark them in my Christmas shopping folder! |

Hi Mike
Both look great now... You might want to wait and let Ros have a look before doing anything permanent, like deleting one, but Personally... I think the artcovegallery.com site is more visually appealing.
You should have a sign up form somewhere around the bottom of your site, to collect an opt-in mailing list. You can offer to send out notices for Sales, contests, special offers, free stuff or a newsletter... whatever you deem appropriate. But this is how you capture that visitors email address and maintain an ongoing relationship with those "potential" customers.
Rosalind recommended Aweber to me for my mailing list management and I'm extremely pleased with it - http://www.linkshield.com/c/753_18 I think you can get a free trial with it, but I didn't bother, I just subscribed cause it was a no-brainer. I want people to keep coming back to my site so I write a weekly newsletter and set it on auto.
Good Luck! |
