Hey all, I am looking at putting together a website that would be a directory of sorts, and the links would be to affiliate sites. My question is this: is it difficult getting acceptance from the individual affiliate programs (not the affiliate network, but to sell the product itself)? I'm just curious if some publishers are picky about advertising their products on sites that aren't established yet and don't have any traffic.

Most undergroud affiliate networks wouldn't give two hoots if you weren't getting any traffic. But some of the bigger multinational mainstream affiliate networks don't allow you to do this without a certain amount of traffic.

I'd just check terms of service when your signing up with each network which you generally have to do to get the link your going to promote anyway.

The links in the sig line from dotcomsecrets don't go anywhere -

There are some affiliate programs that do care about the traffic first - like Kontera (contextual advertising) but most affiliate programs have other criteria like not linking to sites that promote porn or gambling - unless of course the product that you are promoting is porn or gambling.

Depending upon the niche most marketers run their own affiliate program or run them through Clickbank, PayDotCom etc. Those who use Commission Junction will have a physical product to sell.

Just read the terms of service before signing up.

Also there is now only one link in the signature line as specified by the terms and conditions of this forum. As I said previously it's a good idea to check terms and conditions before running riot.

Sorry
