I have a question and thought this might be the best place to post it .. this weekend in my quest to find ANYTHING to start making some money to pay off my student loans .. I discovered that in ebay there are several sellers that post ready made websites .. they claim the website is transfered in your name, some will send the website to search engines, some charge ten dollars a month for hosting, and others even allow you to change some of the items on the website ..

Anyway ... I was wondering if anyone was aware whether these ready made websites really do work .. whether they are scams .. whether you can actually make them work and make money or whether they are just ready made for the person who developed them to make money without you knowing .. etc etc .. THANKS for any imput I appreciate it ... Question Idea

Hello Marias17, and Welcomoe to the forum! Very Happy

I would tend to stay away from that type of site for multiple reasons. Particularly run away from ANY site where YOU can't make your own revisions to it! Many of these types of sites are geared toward people who are new to IM, ignorant of what is actually involved, and are looking to get rich over night (e.g. those who want the money, but not the work involved in EARNING it). Perusing the forum a bit should let you know that most successful online businesses don't happen that way.

I'm not trying to belittle those who offer such sites, I just personally feel that those types of sites are marketed just to feed off of naive newbies. I repeat that this is only MY OPINION!

Most of these "eBay-auctioned" sites are identical cookie cutter sites, meaning they all look alike, promote the same stuff, and compete with each other if they compete at all. (The Rich Jerk forum is full of people who bought into his free, "cookie-cutter" sites only to request refunds after finding out the limitations thereof.) Do YOU want a site that looks just like a thousand others? You are better off putting that money towards paying off your student loans.

If you have purchased Rosalind's Super Affiliate Handbook, you should have all the tools you need to start building your own web presence without spending much more money at all. Everything is laid out plainly, simply and in depth (as far as is practical). If you haven't purchased SAH, I'd heartily recommend doing so (link is on her blog, (right column, center), accessible through her "Blog" link at the top of this page). If you prefer not to, there are a wealth of free resources on the web to learn the "ins" and "outs" of IM, but for my money, SAH puts the bulk of them at your fingertips and is worth more than the cover price in time savings alone with all the resources Ros has put together in it.

All that said, there ARE reputable, professional site-building companies out there, but cost will definitely be a factor in buying a good one as it WILL be a UNIQUE site.

In short: If you haven't already, get Rosalind's SAH, then put your money & credit cards away. Absorb the wealth of information contained in SAH. Search the NPT forum (it has an excellent search feature) for answers to your questions and if anything is not clear, ask, just like you did here. Visit Ros's blog and check out all the additional resources to be found there.

The folks here want you to be successful without making the same mistakes we did along the way (and who needs to make bigger and better mistakes than the ones who went before? Laughing ). I bought SAH, it WORKS, and it is about THE most in-depth, ethical, and multi-faceted manual I have purchased and read, and one of the few I have NO regrets over! (I'm a believer, what more can I say?) Smile

Hope this helps!

Persevere to Properity!

WoW Thank you soooo much for taking that much time to respond to me truly truly appreciated .. I actually do have her course bought it years ago and set up a site using sitesell years ago .. I have another sitesell site that I need to work on and while I do not mind putting in the time I usually find myself spinning my wheels but you did give me a great great idea to look into their blog and see who might assist me a little more to get it off the ground .. I love this blog and I thank you immensely more than I can say that you took to the time to respond and clear that up for me .. I actually get what you mean about the sites being sold on ebay, what scared me was the links and so forth whose to say half of those links dont belong to the creater who will ultimately end up with the commission .. there are several though that I noticed that do allow you to change items on the site and so forth .

Anyway, honestly thank you soooo much Surprised

You are most certainly welcome, Marias17, glad you found it helpful! Smile

Sounds like you have everything you need set up, but are trying to decide how to use it. Do you have an idea of what you want to do with your sites?

Which is why I say to run away from those that won't allow you to change the content/promotions. . .

Please keep us posted on your progress and don't hesitate to ask questions. Everyone can learn! Very Happy

If you want to try something quick, why not sign up for squidoo.com and start creating lenses? There are tons of resources on squidoo that can help you get started. You can market affiliate programs in your lenses. Just remember to create good, helpful content for your readers and they'll respond to that and click your links. Smile

In December last year I bought ready made website trough ebay. In description it was 30 days money back guarantee, no question asked. When I found that I don’t understand a bit what to do with this site I requested refund but never could get it.

Ebay seller said that he has no control on a hosting (!) and the host JOOMBYTE.COM said that he is not responsible for sellers he has!

So I decided to learn about html and css for to built my own website cause I did not want to be a toy in scammer’s hands any more.

With ed2go.com I learned enough for to build simplest web page but to this day I cannot post it to my website because I found that host closed my account! He does not have telephone number and email correspondence gave me nothing but frustration.

So here is my advice based on my experience: run away from JOOMBYTE.COM as far as you can!

And my questions to community:
1. If there is anything I can do to get my money back from this fraudulent host?
2. Could anyone advise reliable and affordable hosting to start with?

Thank you everyone in advance for help direct and indirect.

Hello Lubasha

In the US there is the Better Business Bureau that you can file a complaint with. I do not know what other countries have for similar services. They will contact the company and urge them to reach a settlement with you.

For a new web host, there are references in this forum about several companies such as Blue Host and Host Gator. I have servers with Host Gator and like their service. The link in my signature will take you to my site where you can learn more about hosting your site.

Hope that helps.
