| I'm sorry if this has already been addressed. I submitted my site over 5 weeks ago and still is not showing up on Google... |

Thanks for the links, Griff. Those are both great resources.
To get indexed fast, at least in Google, I use three steps:
1) Write Content Write articles or create pages in WordPress that was set up to notify article directories of new content. Using this method, I have seen traffic within 30 minutes.
2) Create or Update and Submit a robots.txt file using the Google Webmaster Resources. Using this I make sure all pages I want indexed get there. The tool also validates the robots.txt file so you can create any errors before it is submitted. Detailed instructions on creating one are there too.
3) Link to New Page Announce the new article/page by linking to it on other sites, social networking sites (MySpace, Twitter, Plurk, etc)
Google Alerts: Another thing I do is monitor the Google News Alerts for the keywords I am writing for. That tells me what is happening in the industry, gives me ideas for content and tells me when the alerts go out each day (so I can beat the deadline and have the new page promoted quickly - sometimes within 35 minutes or less).
Yahoo! News Alerts works much the same way as Google Alerts, with the alerts sent to you in email.
Hope that helps. |

Also...
Go to http://xml-sitemaps.com and create a sitemap for your site, upload it to your root page (i.e. http://yoursitehere.com/sitemap.xml)...then submit that sitemap to Google using the same Google Webmaster Tools above.
That almost "forces" Google to take a look at your site for the first time. |
