Hi all,
Anyone tried using craigslist to advertise their site?
Does it work? It seems like there are so many categories and locations the chances of getting your ad seen are slim. |

Hi Pops!
Advertising on CL absolutely works, people wouldn't be using it if it didn't! Your chances of being seen are as good as anyone else's, just make sure you write a good ad, target and categorize it properly, and you're golden. |

Posting an ad on Craigslist about once a week has become a primary source of business leads for my wife in her offline business. I have tried other classified ads sites and none pull like Craigslist does.
While most ads are plain text, I like to experiment with HTML styles and graphics to draw attention.

I think CraigsList is primarily set up for offline marketers. I'm by no means a CraigsList expert. My experience has been:
I ran an ad for a virtual assistant there in several different geographic areas, as I live in a "population challenged" area.
I posted (one ad at a time) in larger population centers that I knew had a high % of broadband users. I found my ads were flagged, deleted, and vaporized, even though it was a bonafide offer that stated exactly what I was looking for.
On the other hand, the ad for my old truck ran with no problems, even in a nearby city (35 miles away) in another state.
While others have, I haven't found CraigsList worth my time. I get much better response elsewhere.
Of course it depends on your site, but my time is used better at forums social networking sites where people are already predisposed to my message.
An alternative that actually works for affiliate and Bum marketing is USFreeAds.

Chastill,
Take a good look at the ads on Craigslist and see which ones attract your attention the most. Then try to follow their headline examples.
Cheers,
