|
|
Hi all and Happy New Year,
I am just wondering what tools or programs do you use for Keyword searches? I want to see if people like one over another and just get some ideas for possibly new tools we all could use.
Right now I am doing a site with SBI so I use their search tools, but I also use Word Tracker and like them alot just to use to find numerous other related keywords. They have many ways of doing a search and it is easy to take one Keyword and grow to 1000 or more in under an hour.
Some of them I use just to find a new branch or area to take an idea to.
Yahoo (overture) also is somewhat useful, but I do not like how they combine everything such as plural, split words etc into one result.
What are some other programs you all use for Keyword Searches?
Thanks,
Duane |

Most often I'll use the overture search tool, and free wordtracker account. I had a subscription to wordtracker for over a year and it wasn't anymore beneficial than the free account IMO. Plus, if you have a google adwords account, you can use their keyword suggestion tool which I've found quite handy.
I also recommend Keywords Analyzer as a helpful tool. It works great and can be very revealing. If you'd like to read my take on it, hop on over to by blog post at http://www.allbusiness.com/blog/JustForSmallBusiness/3357/003069.html where you can pick up your free copy of the Keywords Masters course by Chris Lee one of the creators of the tool.

I'm in love with the yearly access to Wordtracker.....
I use that in combination with the free "Dowser" tool right now.
However, I need to spend 2 full days on how to properly generate the largest amount of keywords. I'd like to have at least 10,000 keywords for each of my niches and right now I'm lagging on that goal.
Luckily I've picked up a few new tools that should help this goal, but inevitably it will take some time to learn how to even use these gadgets. |

Jason,
If you are looking to get a huge amount of keywords for each niche, you should look into Keyword Analyzer if you have not already. Basically, you take your niche and a general term and ask the program to do your search under the general term. It will bring back all the terms using that one word. You can control how far you want it to search etc..... If you want a lot of keywords, this one is a great tool.

Hi all!
There are so many good tools around, no wonder it's hard to decide which ones to use!
I always start with Overture's free keyword tool when I'm checking out markets.
I've also got a yearly subscription to Wordtracker.
Although I use other's as well, I particularly like using Jeff Alderson's Ad Word Analyzer. He's just come out with version 3.0.
While Wordtracker gives me huge lists to work with, I find Ad Word Analyzer easier for getting a quick picture on the overall market.
In addition to building a list from the main keyword, it'll also 'drill down' like Overture's tool. In addition to the # of searches and results, it also displays KEI (the keyword effectiveness index), the ratio of searches to result.
Best of all it shows how many advertisers have campaigns at Overture and Google. When you click on one of those numbers, the software opens up a new window and presents you with a 'competing list summary'.
By checking the URL's in this list, it's easy to see if there are affiliates advertising in the category. Essentially, THAT's the kind of info you really want to know, 'cause where there are affiliates, there's a huge likelihood that the niche will be profitable. [/b]
For more information on the topic, visit the Market / Keyword Research section.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Ros |
