Google AdSense -- Are affiliate links required first?

I read somewhere that Google AdSense does not allow ads on websites that don't already have products or affiliate links.

Rosalyn, I didn't see any mention of this in your book. Hopefully I'm mistaken?

The source where you read that is mistaken.

Google has no requirement (to my knowledge) of having other advertising on your site to be accepted into their program. I got my accounts with no other advertising on my sites, and you can too.

Think about it for a minute, why would they require competition for advertising space on your site(s) prior to accepting your application?

Thank you so much, Griff! It sounded a little nonsensical to me, but thought I'd check it out.

So I don't need to have products on the site first?

Just an information-based site will do?

And remember, the more specific the content, the better targeted the corresponding ads. Cool
