Merry Christmas everyone. My name is Michael Travis and I have been learning, doing and not having much success in affiliate marketing well over a year now. I have only made a little over $300 during this time and spent probably 3 times that amount on mainly junk affiliate marketing books. A few of the books have been great and Rosalind's is top on my list in this category. I read it when I purchased it in June of 2007 and after seeing the update I decided to read it again. It has put me back on the right track. I have posted here a few times and hope to add more in the future.

I decided to make this post today to introduce myself and to publically set a goal. I believe this will get me on the "do it" track and off the "watch it" track. I am sure most people can relate to this. My goal is to make 1000USD by the end of March 2008. It is a small and acheievable goal but it is a start.

Hey Michael,

Great to hear that you're back on track and setting a small goal to achieve within a reasonable timeframe is definitely a huge step in the right direction! Good for you!

The fact that you've already made some money should be proof positive that it works when you work at it... so go from there.

And... don't work so hard that you don't get time to enjoy the holidays!

Just thought I would give an update on my post since it is already March.

I have had a hard time staying on track. Those darn IM forums can be addicting not to mention all the junk they can sell you can waste a lot of your time. I did find some good information on a particular IM tactic and believe it or not it was free. It was the bum marketing method by Travis Sago. I do have to say I was so impressed on how easy it was to do I decided to put it to the test. After all, the bum marketing is about no out of pocket expense for advertising. I did the keyword research and submitted my articles and about 10 days later I started making sales. It was only one a day but it cost me $0. I got sales for 3 days in a row and made $54. That proved to me the method worked.

Did I continue applying the method? Only for a few days then I got back off track again. After being off track for a few weeks I realized some very important things I believe every Internet Marketer should know.

1. You cannot make money in 15 minutes if you are first starting out. You must have a site setup and ready for traffic or you must know all the ins and outs about keywords and PPC. I kept looking for the fast way to make money and it just isn't out there.

2. You must have a plan. Of course, you first have to find something that works for you. Once you know what works you then must build on it.

3. You must test different combinations of traffic, keywords, landing pages and offers. I found the bum marketing method works best with a landing page that gives a comparison of two or more products. You know, I think I read that somewhere.

I did gain a lot of knowledge and I know I have to stay on track to be successful. Staying on track is the hardest thing for me personally. I want to see results within a couple of hours after I setup a campaign or write an article. When I don't see the results I start looking for another way to profit (ie. back to the forums to buy more junk).

I started the bum marketing method in the beginning of February. If I would have stayed on track with it and kept submitting artilces I believe I would have reached my goal of $1000 by the end of March.

I am still not going to give up. I am going to succeed at this. I know it can work, but I just have to work also.
