|
|
Maybe this should go in the newbies formum, but I've been working with the SAH system a while and thought I'd share...
I purchased a Revolution Theme for WordPress (by Brain Gardner) and was excited to learn about the possibilities of using FeedBurner (free!) to provide email forwarding of all articles (including those with affliate links) to users wanting to opt in. This seems to go against Dell's policy for one though, which states..
"As a condition of your participation in the Program, you agree to not engage in any of the following activities without prior written approval
...
"Use any device that causes a Qualifying Link to be accessed other than by a Visitor to your website manually and knowingly clicking on such link on Your Marketing Platform"
I was actually just denied access to their program, but could have been for numerous reasons... my site is still in the beginning phases and I just wanted to test their waters... they probably didn't like one of my articles either that had some somewhat negative views on Windows Vista (which they happen to wholeheartedly recommend to everyone when not everyone really wants it)... just being truthful...
But has anyone else had similar experience, or have an opinion on using FeedBurner? Would it be better to use aweber and send articles that don't have affiliate links/send you back to my site as a general rule?
Regards,
KennyK |

Of course, RSS feeds might have the same problem in this context. Maybe what I should do is provide links inside my articles to additional landing pages on my site that have product info and affiliate links. That way we don't offend nobody...
Seems to me that some advertiser’s ideas are in direct conflict with the whole concept of affiliate marketing though. It's the affiliate marketer’s job to gain the customers faith, not to regurgitate the same tired old, completely positive sales pitch in a confined, narrow-minded channel.
Life is an enigma wrapped in a paradox, but I’ve heard successful people just persist, persist, persist. |

Hi KennyK!
Sorry I'm no help on your WordPress question as I don't use it, but I've no doubt one of the resident WP "gurus" will chime in soon.
As far as Dell's TOS:
| Quote: | | ". . .Use any device that causes a Qualifying Link to be accessed other than by a Visitor to your website manually and knowingly clicking on such link on Your Marketing Platform" |
I believe what they are referring to here is against click fraud, meaning "don't click on your own links" (once to test for proper link operation is OK).
Also, don't be discouraged if they reject your initial application to their program, keep applying as your site develops. Sometimes it just takes another try. If they haven't given you an explanation for their rejecton, ASK for one, so you know what they are looking for, adjust accordingly and eliminate the guess-work!
To quote someone's recent wise words: | Quote: | | . . .successful people just persist, persist, persist. |

You're welcome KennyK, anytime!

Just make sure you fully comply with the TOS of the article directories you submit to. Some allow links within the articles, some only allow them in your bio, some allow both. Whichever way is allowed, use it to your benefit for traffic and backlinks to enhance your PR. Also ensure your articles are properly SEO'd for the keyword(s) you are trying to rank for.
A negative review of Vista should have no bearing on acceptance or rejection - you were rating a MicroShaft product not a Dell one, so I'm sure that wasn't the issue.
Keep us posted on your progress, it helps everyone!
