Hi everyone,

My name is Jim, and I am new to all of this. I have been working on this site for about two months now, and I have it pretty much completed. Could someone please look it over and give me your honest opinion of it. I would be very grateful for any help or ideas you may have.

the site location is at:

http://www.affiliatemarketingprostyle.com

Thanks so much
and best wishs to all,

Jim

Hello Jim,

First, my sincere apologies for taking so long to respond to your post. I've got Holiday 'mush-mind'.

You've certainly done a lot of work there, Jim. Nice header graphic, all the right disclaimers, etc. Kudos to you!

You may want to think about breaking up your homepage into individual reviews for each of the products that you promote, just so your visitors don't get overwhelmed by too much choice.

Affiliate review sites are usually broken into product categories, with reviews written for each product within the category.

Therein lies the problem for anyone starting out with a topic they're not solidly 'grounded in', like affiliate marketing or Internet marketing. ie. Have you used all the products that you promote?

It's so much easier to sell something that you've actually used and can write a balanced review about.

I don't want to dissuade you from carrying on with the topic, but would think you'd have much more success AND fun, if you were to create a site around a topic in which you are deeply interested.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers,
Ros

hello ros,

I doubt very seriously if your reply to my request to have my website viewed was intended to hurt my feelings, but it did. To suggest that I am not truly interested in the products that I am affiliated with is simply not true, otherwise I would have never spent the money for Jim's mini website creator course, and a slew of his e-books. Website design has always been a passion of mine. I am now just getting some time in my life to look at it deeper. And by the way. I was having fun with it.

Hello Jim,

Thank you for your honesty. I am truly sorry if what I said hurt your feelings. That certainly was not my intent.

I'm delighted to hear that you're having fun with the project and I confess that I just wasn't seeing evidence of that in your copy, which struck me as perhaps a little 'pitchy'.

People buy from people they like and trust, and they'll trust you more if you offer honest and balanced product reviews.

For example, what's so great about Mini Site Creator? What didn't you like? Give your visitors a blow by blow account of your experience with the product and what YOU think about it. That's what will convince them that you've used the product, and despite whatever it lacks, you still recommend it highly.

Ultimately, what I (and your visitors) want to see is more of YOU and your passion for the topic. I'd recommend that you include and introduction on your homepage... something about yourself and the site's objective and what people will 'get' by spending some time there.

I sincerely hope that clears things up!

Cheers,
Ros

Hi Ros,

Thanks for your reply. I am sorry if I came across a little harsh with my previous reply. I guess the real problem here lies with very little experience and not knowing where to turn sometimes. I think right now I am wearing my feelings on my sleeve, and sometimes I just feel like l am going in circles, and sometimes think about giving this all up. This is not an easy business to make it in. I find myself with way to much information overload. I really get confused with all the information available. I have tried to narrow a few people down as mentor, you being one of them of course, that way I don't get over loaded with to much info. I'm not sure if you read my about us page or not, but in that page, I gave some reasons and alittle experience about using the Mini Site Creator. To be honest, I didn't know enough to put my testimonial on my home page, that's why I elected to place it in the about us page. I myself am in pretty much the same boat you were in when you were working. Way to much stress, to much travel over seas, and to many people wanting a piece of me all the time. Some way and some how, I have to make this whole thing work regardless of my feelings. There is so much to think about, I would like to have a blog, a site map, and a good newsletter. My Aweber autoresponder has 52 messages in it so far, and alot of them are from you. I guess the bottom line is, that what I do in my job is not really a money making project, I build radars for the Patriot Missile system, and putting that kind of info on a website would land me in jail...lol...so, I had to look for an alternate hobby. Again, thanks for your reply Ros, your still number 1 in my book.

Many Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim,

I guess that radar info isn't something you can sell on eBay either, eh? LOL.

As to feeling confused and frustrated... I hear ya, loud and clear. Been there done that too many times.

But in truth, Internet marketing isn't really that difficult a business to 'make it in'. The difficulty comes in having unrealistic expectations about one's abilities.

I had no business experience when I started, and I'm STILL not a geek (I'm actually allergic to script installations), so I had a LOT to learn.

I STILL learn something new about this business every day, and know that there won't be a day that I won't learn something.. unless of course I sleep through the entire day.

I've made it a point to have fun with what I do... I don't take things too seriously... and therefore I can plod step by step without getting my knickers in too many knots in the process.

What did Henry Ford say?
Quote:
"Obstacles are what you see when you lose site of the goal".

So, maybe instead of thinking and stressing about ALL you have to do, just make a nice little list, and just keep the faith that with time and practice you will reach all those little goals and ultimately your big goals.

In the meantime, ENJOY the process. Smile

Oh ya, and never give up. Don't even think about it. Persistence is the hallmark of a true entrepeneur.

Happy New Year!

Ros
