Hello,
I am new to the forum and am very excited to be here. I do have experience in affiliate marketing on the network side, but Rosalind's book inspired me to build a site and begin the affiliate adventure!
I have to say that I absolutely love being a publisher, and am just now trying to gain traction with my first site, CouponCowgirl. If anyone has any suggestions on getting the word out there please let me know.
CouponCowgirl is a social shopping website that partners with popular retailers (e.g., apparel, consumer electronic, flower and gift companies), serving consumers by compiling online discounts for hundreds of retailers on one, easily navigable website.
Visit us online at CouponCowgirl I'd love to hear your feedback!
Good luck to you all, and Thank you Rosalind for your perseverance and expertise!

It looks like you DID read the book, Heather (and your mystery partner). Even better, you put it to use which is good because it makes a lousy coffee table book.
It is fairly easy to navigate. I especially liked the coupon calculator. No doubt that will be a big hit with those die-hard bargain shoppers!
I noticed in your search results that you've been doing some social bookmarking and your blog posts are showing up. Try a scial bookmarking site such as SocialMarker and be sure to ping those blog puppies so that they're indexed by Technorati and all those guys.
A couple of things: One, there is nothing on your Partners page. FIX THAT. It will be a passive income source for you that practically takes care of itself.
Two, I noticed a page with two different fonts on it - looked like Arial 10 point and Times New Roman 12 point. Stick with using only the Arial 10 point. It's more readable and is more widely used.
You're getting a good thing going! |

Dan, thanks so much for the fantastic feedback! I really appreciate your tips, as this is quite the process! I wouln't give it up for the world though, it's such a creative and challenging industry!
I also wanted to ask your opinion on reciprocal linking, as I have reached out to many sites requesting a link exchange and I have yet to receive a reply. I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do or if I just need to keep plugging away. We're happy to list relevant sites on our Partners page, but understand that it won't help our endeavor unless they add our link to their site in exchange.
Any other thoughts/advise on this subject?
Also, I'm unable to locate the pages that do not match up in fonts. If you would please elaborate I'd love to correct this.
Again, THANK YOU!

That would be the "How To Use" page.
When you've approached other sites for reciprocal links, have you told them WHY they should link to you?
The ol' WIIFM isn't so hard to beat if you figure it out beforehand.
Also, be sure they're relevant to your own site - perhaps even competitors. You could send folks to them to find something you don't have and vice versa. |

Thanks again, Dan. I'll keep plugging away. As our traffic levels steadily increase I think we'll spark the interest of more and more relevant sites.
Take care and thanks for the advise,
Heather |
