HI!
I would really love someone to check out the website I am currently working on. I have kinda hit a wall. Simply because I am not happy with the L&F of the pages. I know I can work on the content and I am fine with affiliate links etc.
I just really don't feel comfortable with the look, it looks really ameteurish (because it is may be??)
I have so much more content to add.
I don't know enough html to design the look I want ( I am working with SBI) So I feel restricted on what I can do.
Can someone just take a look and point me in the right direction before my head goes through the wall
I have the desire and determination to make this work.....
Much apperciated guys, Thanks |

I'm not sure what your limitations are with SBI; can you change your layout & format as much as you like?
I used a free template by andreas viklund (google that name) to create the site at www.mastercraftinc.com (sorry, Ros's idea to limit web addresses(MOD EDIT:Activated link...Thanks for being helpful Gary )). He has so many clean, fast-loading designs I'm sure you will find one you like.
Your menu in particular needs work. The rollover effect should be the same for all links; I noticed some change colors, some images are blurry. Andreas has nice rollover effects that use no javascript, just CSS.
Also, you might consider either a 1-pixel border around your content, or perhaps a slightly darker background color so the viewers eyes are drawn and focused on your all-important content.
I like the way it is centered and kept narrow; makes for easier reading. You have rather long reading content; it's important you make it easy on the eyes.
Speaking of content, I strongly suggest you change your heading text on the home page. Selfhelp and self development are becomming more popular is not a strong statement that compels someone who landed there to read more. Try something more exciting and titillating, like: "Learn the secrets of self-help and self-development that the psychiatrists don't want you to know". That might look a little over the top, but it grabs the readers attention. It is up to you, as a writer, to write the convincing sales copy that follows and backs up your claims. But you gotta snag em first.
Be sure you run a spell-checker on your content; I saw many mistakes (I think selfhelp should be self-help or self help, for one. And 'becoming' has only one 'm').

Hi there
I noticed your post when I was posting my own request for a site review.
I have looked at your site and read through it with much interest - I am sure you will achieve the look that you want (I am not a technical person so cannot advise here). One comment I would make - if you are going to keep the highlighted headers consider going for another colour. Yellow is the colour of the Chakra that represents the digestive system - it doesn't encourage readers to read, just eat! Try out turquoise, which is the colour of the throat and represents communication, or purple/mauve which is the colour of the mind/thinking. You may these are more appealing to the self help audience you are aiming to attract.
Also, I would like to congratulate you on your take on the Secret - it really wasn't much of one was it! Just well presented and great marketing.....a lesson for us all I believe.
Please keep me posted on how you are getting on; once my own site is up and running I may be able to write an article or two for you - I am an NLP Trainer and Coach and specilaise in the area of health and fitness. My own site eatmoveandbehappy is an online weight management programme - there is an affiliate programme too that you might be intersted in
Warm Wishes
Pam Rigden
PS I meant to say that I absolutely love your domain name - it's wonderful. |
