I'll admit it - I'm a Newbie and I haven't even got one page up yet - on my own.

I DO, however, have some content posted on a page posted by an online magazine and it seems to be ranked pretty high on certain keywords.

As I generated that content (in my letter to the editor);
1) am I entitled to use it on a page of my own?
2) assuming 'Yes' to #1 - how can I monetize it besides adding links in the existing words
3) how do I get companies I refer to, in the content, to pay me for any purchases which result from my referrals to their websites - if they don't have an 'affiliate' program?

As I haven't 15 posts yet I can't post the URL of the page displaying my content so here're the keywords which bring it up in a Google search.

[911, chutes] makes it #2 for roughly 970k pages

[9/11, chutes] makes it #1 but for nearly half as many pages

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks; Larry Pines

Larry,

Post the URL to the article like this:

Code:
mysite DOT com

We're smart enough to type the real address in our browsers, but I personally will need to see it before I can help you out.

Hi Gary007:

The URL to the page in the #2 position (#2 of 958k pages) is www DOT 911studies DOT com/articles11.htm

The one for the #1 position (#1 of 519k pages) is
www DOT 911studies DOT com/articles11.htm

(MOD EDIT: http://www.911studies.com/articles11.htm Cool )

Thanks for responding; Larry

Hi,

I'm a little late to this thread...but I thought this needed saying.

Getting a #1 or #2 page rank for a keyword phrase only matters if people are searching for that keyword phrase ...

...in this case there is no one searching for the phrase [911, chutes] so it's irrelevant in terms of traffic...

It's not page rank you want it's targeted traffic you want.

My advice: Get a free trial of wordtracker and see which keyword phrases related to "911 chutes" people are searching for and then try and get page rank for those terms.

cheers,
Darren
