I am looking into getting my first site up and was looking at GoDaddy.com to host it. I am thinking of buying a year of hosting at the lowest level, but wanted some advice. What will that get me compared to the higher levels? Is it possible to upgrade part way through? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Johnny,

I say 'splurge' and go for the "Deluxe" plan for $8.96 a month (that's if you are buying for the full year) just so you can get CGI and Perl support on your server.

GoDaddy offers a number you can call for help deciding which server option and hosting plan is best for you. It is:

(480) 505-8877

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Ros

Thanks Ros. I am researching now and will hopefully be up in a couple of weeks, probably less. Then I will be asking you and others to shred it to make it better.

I just decided to go with godaddy.com and find out that despite of its lowest price I get, It gave me applications I can start with almost instantly. I ever used ipowerweb. It has superb customer support, but lately they answered poorly to my questions. Whatever your decision, it would be great if you can get fantastico bundled to their server (godaddy.com does NOT have it!)

You can research about domain & hosting at All About Domain & Hosting

Hostgator does.
