Hi all,

I'm about to launch a site based on an idea I had a long while ago, but I'm a bit reluctant to take the final step and get an adwords campaign running.

You see, this one has no way of making referrals from the site itself. Instead, its sole purpose is to build a list.

My gut feeling tells me this is (pretty much) in line with the fundamentals of the SAH - advertise with ppc, build your list - but a nagging voice in the back of my head keeps telling me I'll probably loose money if I've got no way of making referrals diectly from the site itself.

The niche itself isn't amazingly profitable but the market it opens up is potentially huge (sort of a back door to a bigger market)

Anywho, I guess I'm just looking for an idea of how big a part your list plays in making referrals.

I think I know the answer, the cautious part of me is looking for confirmation.

I'd really love to get this site off the ground as it's the only project I can recall completely enjoying working on. Since I shelved this one a while back, I've hopped from topic to topic without seeing a cent.

Any insight appreciated,
Cheers

hi Mark,

even if you cannot risk putting links onto the page which collects the visitor's email address, for fear of losing the potential subscriber, you could always add some javascript to create a pop under window that the visitor will find when they close down all other windows. this is not uncommon, and you could have links on that page, or the window could open onto another site after having been invoked with your affiliate ID. this is one of the techniques i suggest to my ClickBank affiliates.

Most lists are a waste of money.
