I found an article everyone might find very helpful:
"Steps to Creating and Promoting RSS Feeds"
http://www.sitepronews.com/archives/2005/apr/15.html
It's basically a step-by-step guide to using RSS for promoting your site. I've been creating and promoting RSS feeds for about a year now, and I've found that they generate a lot of site traffic. Plus they're another way to build a loyal subscriber base.
Once you've created RSS feeds, you can promote them by submitting them to RSS directories like Syndic8.com (http://www.sydic8.com). Once you've listed your feed there, you must ping the RSS directories whenever you update your feed. Go to Pingomatic (http://www.pingomatic.com) to do this.
If anyone has any questions about using RSS, just let me know. |

Glenn,
Good article - thanks for posting. It actually kicked me out of my lethargy, and got me to finish off my RSS generation code (all my content these days come from databases, so writing the RSS generation was easy.)
I've submitted my site to a few appropriate engines - here's looking at the access logs with crossed fingers
Regards,
Mark |

Speaking of RSS, you can now turn your Feed (or your Blog) into an HTML formatted email newsletter! I was really impressed with this new feature, called a Feed Broadcaster, from Aweber.
I posted a review & example on my blog here, for those interested:

Love it |

Glad I could help, Mark. Your site looks really good.
One thing you should definitely try in order to increase the
number of subscribers to your RSS feed is to use
the following text as an item in your feed:
Bookmark This RSS Feed: http://www.yourwebsite/feed.xml
You can also grab the HTML from an "Add To Yahoo" RSS
subscriber button and insert the code into your feed. That
way, people can subscribe to the feed while viewing the
feed itself.
Lynn, thanks for the info on Aweber. I like their product.
Anything that automates the process of creating an email
newsletter is definitely worth it. Also, I like the marketing
resources section on your site, Self-Starters Weekly Tips http://www.selfstartersweeklytips.com/resources.htm |

Thank you, Glenn
I am using the Feed Broadcaster, myself - and am really impressed with the output. Very nice! |
