|
|
Hi all,
I'm compiling a list of programs I want to review for my web site. I figure I'll get the content up there and then apply to the programs so they can see what my site is about.
I'm surprised to see how low some of the commissions are -- 3%-7%. My site is 'family' so could that be why?
Rosalind's book says she doesn't go for programs less than 25%. If I did that, I'd hardly have any programs to review!!
I've looked at CJ, ClickBank and LinkShare so far. Am I missing the reason behind these low commissions I'm seeing? |

What are you after?
Some types, like books, pay low commissions.
Others, such as Mack trucks, pay more. (You lose most of it in shipping, though.)
Keep looking! |

Deborah,
It's not your niche but what you offer your niche. Merchandise type physical products pay less. You'll get higher commissions on info products and recurring membership fees. The dollar figure means more to me than the payment rate.
If you do some checking around at Clickbank you may find some info products with 50% and up rates. Dig a little to see if there's anything that will work for you.
Remember, it's not the affiliate network, but the product you offer, that's important. At CJ especially, check the links section to see what other affiliates are making per 100 clicks. It's an eye opener. Remember, traffic to your page doesn't necessarily mean they click your links.
Regards,
Lowell |

Ahh yes, that wonderful CJ feature!
Steer clear of physical products if you can. I once sold a product that retailed for 0ver 200 bucks and was paid a whopping $6.12.
Lowell is right on the money by saying that recurring income is the way to go. Recurring memberships, recurring commission products and those that pay lifetime commissions should be as big a part as possible in your mix.
Also, you'll discover that many merchants have accounts with more than one network. Compare to be sure you get the best rate. They sure won't tell you!! |

Hi,
Have you thought of Evergreen Content Sites?
Basically you build a site that offers useful content on a topic with a large potential audience (need to do the market research there in any model)
The evergreen aspect refers to the type of content - subject matter that never goes out of style.
This ensures longevity of your income stream.
for example a site based around rodeos and horses will have a longer life than one based on a particular cell phone model.
You monetize the site with revenue streams like google adsense and the new PPP audio ads. |
