What do you do when the ads Google places on your website have nothing to do with the content. I've checked my meta tags and content and it seems pretty clear to me the website is about affiliate marketing and starting a home business . . . but Google keeps putting science ads on my site.
Any suggestions? |

I don't know anything about your web page.
But...
From the Google website:
"There can be many reasons why a website may display less targeted ads or public service ads. Below is a list of the most common issues."

You may want to go straight to the source (Google) and see what you can pick up and then do some more experimenting with your page(s) to see if you can get more relevant ads to show up.
However...
There's no guarantee by Google that they'll have relevant ads for your website.
In which case....
You're screwed. |

Google uses a technology called Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) to help with Adsense relevance. It isn't perfect.
You can block the urls of the non-relevant ads in your Adsense account.
In my experience the Adsense technology seems to notice visible words on my sites more than invisible (like meta) words.
When I'm cleaning out my trash folder at Google's Gmail the Adsense ads served on that page are for SPAM (the mystery meat) recipes.
Somebody with a recipe page is paying for a lot of clicks.  |

There is a feature of AdSense that allows you to provide hints to help show relevant ads (or at least whatever you hint at). Unfortunately, the feature is only currently available to a limited number of selected (by Google) publishers.
However, you can already emphasise content. |
