I've had my nose in wordtracker for day; now it's time to take my new potential niches and get started building. I wanted to run this by the more experienced to see if my logic is sound.
The first topic is pretty tightly focused (as any good niche should be), and although there are about 3,000 keywords, they are all quite close.
So my plan is to take my theme (blue widgets) and optimize the home page for the two most frequently searched terms.
Then, I have categorized the remaining keywords into six distinct categories (i.e. "blue widgets with support contract", "open source blue widgets", "blue widgets in <your city>", etc). Each of these categories will have a dedicated second-level page complete with affiliate recommendations & reviews.
Once that is done, I'll set up an adwords campaign to drive traffic to my optimized category pages.
Question 1 - Instead of driving the traffic to the category pages, should I plan instead to make a landing page for each (adwords) campaign with the appropriate affiliate link there?
Once the ad campaign is set up and the pages are tweaked to convert the traffic, I was planning to collect relevant articles from content sites around the web. Then post them as third-level pages, and include an introduction to each article with a link to the appropriate affiliate page.
Additionally, each article page would link to one or more of the second-level pages with the goal of increasing the SE ranking of the second-level pages (over time).
I was planning to include adsense on the article pages to try and maximize the revenue from these pages.
Am I missing anything?
Thanks,
