Help, can somebody say something to make me feel better

Hello there, how are you all going? I just wanted to ask you a question if that's okay. It's about press releases. I thought I would write out a really good press release to promote my affiliate website (at www.helpthemarriage.com), so what I did was, I wrote out a press release, and I sent it to a guy who does press releases for a living (he writes them, and also sends them out to the media for publicity) and I paid him to critique it for me before I sent it out, and when he answered all he said was a page full of why a press release would NEVER work for affiliate marketing. He said that the media don't EVER give publicity for affiliates promoting ebooks and that I shouldn't even bother trying, and that I should give up because I am not the ebook author anyway, etc etc.
Talk about feeling deflated! I'm up to my third hot chocolate (I hit the bottle!) I was just wondering if anybody out there could help me and possibly say something to cheer me up. Like, does anybody know of a story where a press release did indeed work for an affiliate? Or is it true what he said, that I should give up. Or do you think perhaps that he is just a media snob? Thank you so very much for your time. I do appreciate it a lot. I wait in anticipation for any helpful cheering up advice (with my hot chocolate cup in hand!)

Either your press release needs some working on or your guy doesn't know as much about using press releases for affiliate marketing than he thinks (or is letting on).

Personally, I've had great success promoting other people's products using press releases.

Don't just take my word for it. Ask Rosalind!

Don't be disheartened by what others may say especially if it's only negative and if they themselves know little about the specific subject they're talking about.

Find things out for yourself. Nothing beats personal experience, learning from your own mistakes and celebrating your own successes.

And thanks heaps for the link you gave me, I read it all, and I feel much better now You're right, I shouldn't listen to negative people like that, who say negative things. Thanks once again for your help, I was just about to hit the ice cream! But now I think I'll send my press out instead, and from now on I won't listen to any more negative blockheads
