I have a question. I cannot believe I am stuck so soon. I have signed up for an affiliate program with a merchant, registered a domain name and signed up for a hosting account with hostgator. The merchant supplied me with a link which when clicked, opens to their landing page. My question is how do I transfer this link to the hosting account? Hostgator has a control panel file manger which is used to upload files but all I have is a link. I see other affiliate's adwords ads with the same merchant using the same landing page so I know it can be done. I am totaly frustrated at this point. Anyones advice with experience is appreciated.

You need an ftp. You can get a free one if you do a search on google.
I put that and then reread the post.
You have hostgator. Go to your cpanel, find file manager and you will see upload files use that but I would use a ftp personally. |

I don't fully understand the problem you're having.
Are you saying that you have an affiliate link from the merchant and want to publish it on a website? You have a hosting account, but do you actually have a website on it?
If you have an affiliate link for potential customers to use then you need to get that link to them somehow. It doesn't have to be on your own website. You may be able to email newsletters, publish articles, buy pay per click adverts all without having a website of your own. |

I assume you got web hosting because you wanted to make a preselling website for the affiliate program. You need to understand basic html and know how to construct basic pages. Usually you insert your affiliate links in the text of your preselling pages. You can add a banner if they provide one.
PM me if you want and I will give you a download URL for a free video that shows you how to build a minisite with free wysiwyg html editors.
If all you want to do is redirect the link you could do that with a masked forward from your domain name at your domain host. You don't even need a website to do that. Any reputable domain host offers this for free.
You can also make a simple redirect page in notepad and upload it to your web host. You should give it a name that makes people want to click.
Good luck, |

Thank you everyone for your replies. At this point all I want to do is run a ppc campaign. I think the problem may be that the transfer did not go through from godaddy to hostgator. I never got an e-mail telling me the transfer took place. I set up an adwords canpaign and the ad was disapproved due to an incorrect destination URL. I will try to get the transfer problem straightened out and try again.
