Hello all,
I was hoping to buy my hosting today. I'm so excited about getting my site "live!" I believe I'm going to go with Host Gator. Someone recommended that I get a reseller acct? I hope to build multiple sites mostly in different niches, maybe around 30 (which of course, as slow as I am will take me awhile.) . What does anyone recommend?
Can I start out with a smaller package and upgrade If I meet my limit? What is a reseller compared to the other types of accounts? Since I would like all my sites to be separate entities would this make a reseller better? I guess I'm just not understanding the difference and advantages of both.
Teach me, I'll Listen,

Can't Hostgator answer these questions for you? That is a good test of customer service. I pick my web hosts this way, and by their uptime. Most of them have so much bandwidth and space anymore that is not an issue.
That said, you should be able to start with any of their smaller packages and upgrade as you need to. hostgator has a pretty good reputation.
Thirty sites is a big target. My advice is quality, not quantity.
Good luck to you. |

Thanks Lowell,
I'm writing to Host Gator now. Lets see what they have in the good ole' support dept! Yes, 30 sites is alot! Granted it will probably take me a verrrry long time but, that is my long term goal.
I have to agree quality over quantity yes. I'm trying to do as much of my own original content as possible. I've had people tell me just throw some sites up but, deep down in my heart I want to "actually" provide good quality to my visitors. I hate to go to sites and see all adsense and ads and links to other sites. I shouldn't have to search so hard for "just a little bit of information!", even as a visitor myself its very frustrating! Where's tha content! With that being said, I know 30 sites is alot so, I quess I'll be done with them oh lets say around, year 2026

Rainy,
Goals are great. And I'd never rainy on your parade. But when I am doing a site generally the hosting is the last thing in the process. Idea, research, domain name, build site, then upload to host.
If you look in my profile (page 15 lol) you'll see a website address. At that site there is an "about us" link. That will get you an email address. You can email me if you've got questions and you don't want to keep posting. |
