Hey all,

Anyone heard of nichemillions? I found it mentioned on the a4uforum and I'm just looking to get opinions. It's meant to be a metawebs clone, only it's free instead of $15k. Apparently you buy a doamin, find a niche and accompanying keywords and their software cranks out an adsense site for you. Memberships have closed now but I managed to sneak in just before they did.

Now I'm not so sure I should do anything with it. A voice in the back of my head keeps screaming "adsense sites don't add anything to the web and can get delisted in an instant".
I don't want this to turn into any kind of advert (not sure if they're worth advertising yet), just looking to see if anyone has had any experience with them?

btw, my other site is geting there! lol. I'm looking at a membership system at the mo but the site is going to be up long before I try and put that in place. Gonna build traffic with free memberships first.

This nichethingy just seemed like quick little autopilot thing while I was getting that up.

Cheers,
-Mark

I can't comment on that particular service because I've not even heard of it, but I have had some experience with AdSense and it's by no means an easy way to make any decent amount of money especially if your sites are i) new, ii) don't receive much traffic and iii) are in a niche without many advertisers to make it worthwhile.

As for membership scripts, I've managed to collect a few that I have resell or private label rights to, but haven't tested yet. My favourite, and it also happens to be used by many of the membership websites I subscribe to, is aMember.

There may be better options for you depending on what your requirements are, but aMember is a very mature, powerful, well developed and well supported system.

Hi Will,

Yeah, it's aMember I'm going to be using. I've seen alot of people I trust recommend it.

As far as the AdSense sites thing goes, I've never really considered using adsense as a primary method of monetization. Honestly never really considered it as a monetization method at all.
The only reason I was looking at this site is cause it seemed easy enough to create a few sites and forget about them. If they made money, great. If not, no big loss.
Thinking about it though, I think I'll leave it. It's running a bit too close to the blackhat wire for my liking. Plus, I don't see how those kind of sites can add much to the net.

Thanks for the reply,
-Mark

I think that's a wise choice!

"Made For Adsense" sites are specifically against Google's TOS, and if that software leaves any kind of "footprint" they can easily identify all sites it has generated (and terminate the corresponding accounts).

It's a very lively debate, but I wouldn't necessarily see it as an issue if somebody built and established a website solely for the purpose of earning money through AdSense.

Who is to say that such a website wouldn't be a great online resource?

How is anyone to tell what the motivations behind a website are? What if there were no tell-tale signs, but the website was built solely for AdSense earnings?

It's a very grey area and there are many contradicting viewpoints (often from the same opinion holders).

If AdSense is of interest then an interview with the Director of Online Sales and Operations for Google AdSense might also be of interest. Wink

Speaking as someone who gets a monthly check from Google -

It is a gray area.

My point was that when it comes to software advertised as something which automatically generates sites to bring in adsense revenue, chances are the content is either 1) scraped from DMOZ, 2) keyword-heavy "fluff" or 3) a bunch of canned articles (i.e. duplicate content across multiple sites built using the software) - none of which would, IMO, make the site a great online resource Smile

OTOH, if someone sets out to build something of value for their visitors and pays the bills with Adsense ... well, that's what it's there for Smile.

I opt for the direct payment so I don't suffer the currency conversion to GBP.

I agree! There's nothing wrong with the intention of building sites to make money, but each individual's opinion of what gives value is subjective even when it's all okay by Google.

However, I do believe it's possible to give value whilst using some automated means to present content. Not all auto content generation software is evil. RSS is a good example; when it's published on other people's websites, it's not original content and yet many popular websites are almost nothing but republished content.

What's Google, but a big content scraper itself? Wink
