It is about keywords and maybe I am missing something here but I am failing completely to understand keywords or what people would like me to understand. I have just got a website about the world cup football. I am trying to personalise it and I look at the keywords already in the html. Remember we are talking footie here, so why do we have mlm home business, blogspot.com and numerous home business keyword, in fact there are more keywords about home business than there are about footie.
Xsitepro tells you to keep the keywords down in number (think it is 20) but I also got some books from a well known guru who leases his stuff out and a list of over 2000 keywords most which had nothing to do with the book.
Is there something I am missing here or are they putting stuff within the html or php to get you banned?
Another silly question is about linking your sites together. I have been working through a number of shopping malls who are showing as the top ten in google and all of them link their sites together. They all have UK, USA and other country sites which all have a link, do they know something the rest of us don't.
Rant over but if anyone can throw some sensible light on the matter it would be great.

Hi Bev - I have seen a lot of these types of sites. They seem to use lots of keywords with high kei's that are completely irrelevant to the site. I prefer using few highly relevant keywords per page. In fact, at the moment, I'm trying to find better keywords for each page of each site and change them, but this takes forever!

Putting headings - you know H1, H2 etc with your keywords in seems to work well, and I know you can do that with XSite very easily.

I would definitely avoid spammy techniques. When I built my first site, I got a number one MSN ranking straight away. Then I realised that I had misunderstood some SEO advice, and it made my site look spammy so I changed it. I would rather be a little further down, and not have a spammy site. I think many of these sites overloaded with irrelevant keywords could suffer in the future. Remember, people use Google because it brings up great search results, so they have to keep doing that to stay on top, so they will do everything they can to get rid of some of these rubbish sites.

A world cup site now - I am impressed. How is the diet ebook site coming along?

Yes I always put a H1 or H2 on my site as you say it is easy with xsitepro. I learnt that one quickly when I checked the seo on it and found it missing.

Football site is being worked on to add some affiliates but it can be found www.worldcup.robbev.com I bought something on ebay and the person sent me the wrong thing just happened to be a world cup site which I said thank you very much and put the info into xsitepro did a new header and bob's your uncle. Very Happy Need also to sort out the rss on it.

Diet site is going well, I am working on the course at the moment as well as doing a blog through rapid niche websites. I was amazed at the way it shot up in alexa. I have now got aweber sorted out so will do the course through that, spent a day working through wordtacker, I agree it is brilliant. I love the words it gave especially when I did diet, weight loss and health because it through some up that I could use. It got really good results for childhood obesity and some of my book (the one to be finished and sold) cover that, but as my husband said maybe it could be the perfect diet book for kids. Teach them young to get fit and healthy.

How are your sites going?

That is amazing - they sold you a world cup site by accident! I will check it out. I just checked out your Alexa ranking for your diet site, and it is zooming up.

Did you notice your Google ad for Gastric Banding tho? Yuk. Targetting overweight kids may be a good idea. My stepsister is way too fat, but she doesn't seem to have a clue what to eat. I wonder how I could get her to read it in a tactful kind of way?

My Alexa ranking has plummeted for all my sites this week, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I use webceo to monitor, but I can't seem to get it to work with XSite.

No I didn't get to see the ad about gastric banding, that is one thing I don't like about google ads is that sometimes you get ads you really don't want there but I have yet to work out how to stop them.

I was amazed at alexa ranking on the site because I have done no advertising on it at all except on my signature.

Your richerbrat seems to have gone through the roof with alexa when I checked it especially since you only had it in feb, I am impressed.

Bev, I haven't tried filtering out the ads yet either, and I keep getting MLM ones which I hate. Even richerbrat weekly ranking is down a lot. I don't know if it is me or Alexa.

I do use articles to promote it a bit, and another thing that worked quite well was to put a link to one of the articles in my sig on another forum. I hope they don't read this, and make me remove it!

I wouldn't worry too much about gastric banding - if anyone else is mad enough to have it done, it's not your fault - they were probably mad anyway.
