Rubbish Commissions - what would you do?

I recently signed up with an affiliate program for one of my sites. It's a site which sells a few different things, related to the niche it's in. The trouble is, I misread the commission % for this product. I had a sale today for around $800, yet the commission was just over $5! This is extremely poor commission. I am going to check again, as it was on CJ, but I thought it was meant to be about 1.5%

The problem is, the visitors to the site would expect me to be selling this type of product. I sell it from one single page which gives advice to visitors looking for the particular product. But, I can't help thinking I would be better off putting a lot of adsense on the page instead, as I would probably make more.

I've searched around, but most suppliers of the same product pay similar commission rates.

What would you do? Even when the site starts getting heaps of customers, that product could sell $80k and I would only get $500.

That is so low, I didn't know CJ had commissions that low. Someone bought a computer on our site yesterday £2000 and we got £45 commission not brilliant but it is better than yours. Interesting this particular company who I had never heard of before is getting most of our computer sales.

Is there anything else you could see on the page or another company doing the same thing? I agree that it seem hardly worth your time and effort in doing that.

Well, I checked, and I was meant to get $5 per item. The price of each item varies, but generally it is around $150. Most people buy more than 1 item, so you'd think you'd get $5 for each - not for the whole sale.

Well, I checked the CJ report, and for selling over £1300 worth of stuff, which is around $2100, I got £8. I think I will dump them, and use adsense on that page!
