I'm on my final day of my trial of WebPosition 4. I've primarily used the "reporter" feauture, but dabbled in the rest, as well. Was a little depressing as my site is nowhere near being ranked in the top 30 of any of my search terms.
Anyway, my question is this: has anyone purchased WP4? Do you like it? Would you buy it again? Thanks in advance for your responses!

I use Web CEO, and it is ok, but I don't go OTT with it, as i don't have the time. Is Web Position 4 made by the same people who make Web Position Gold? The reason I ask is that I read both on a forum, and on Google's own guidelines that Google don't like Web Position Gold for some reason, and using it could get your site dropped to the bottom of the pile.
How long have you been trying? It doesn't happen over night. In fact it can take a while just to get a Google PR - apparently they only update them quarterly. |

Yes, from what I understand (from Ros') book , Web Position 4 (related to WP Gold) has been mentioned by Google. However, she says they're only wary of those folks who abuse it by oversubmitting. You have complete control over when and how much you send... correct me if I'm wrong, Ros-. |

The reason for Google not "liking" webposition 4 is among others that it is a very known product and has been used by a lot of people for a long time.
And,
To get all the stats you use as a base for the real html tweaking, webposition have to make a lot of searches in the search engines to see what sites and pages rank well, gather their page content as a base for statistical calculations.
Webposition by itself is not some kind of black hat (or naughty) software, it's just that so many have it and use it.
The same problem apply for all software gather information directly from the search engines.
Webposition just happens to be so famous Google mention them by name!
You can still use it, but reconfigure the data gather process to slow it down a lot, and make sure not to run it to often and everything should be ok.
I've used it myself without problems and I have used other tools that managed to get me "banned" from google.
What they do is that they stop incoming requests from your ip address for a certain amount of time, and then they remove the ban again.
If this happens, a good thing to do is to stay "nice" for a while and not run anything that pull data from google

Exactly... that's a big 'draw' on Google and the other engines that doesn't exactly do anything to benefit them.
Cheers,

Does anyone have a link to that Google guideline? I'm curious cause I've been using WP for years now and its got most of my sites indexed with no problems.
To clarify Dee's question, its not the software that determines your position, its your site. As a matter of fact, I sometimes use a combo of software to optimize my pages. I found WP's advice on optimising my pages very useful, and if you've implemented all the suggestions, it should start to yield results.
Also, its a 30-day trial, no? That's way too soon to see decent results. My advice would be to keep adding content and don't give up... |
