YAY!!! My first commission off my web site last night. Wahoo! Just when I started getting discouraged, I was doing the daily ritual of checking CJ and TADA. There it was. Me---> Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy <----Me

All smiles today. And just the motivation I needed. Got the traffic through Adwords (finally converted)...now to master the dreaded organic search. Any words of encouragement in that arena welcome!

Hi there,

Congrats on your affiliate sale. Now that you've made your first sale you'll be hooked! It's addictive believe me.

Organic search quickly.

1. Write for your reader.
2. Don't spam the search engines.
3. Build links slowly.
4. Submit to free and paid directories.
5. Add content regularly
6. Be patient Smile

Oh and get the VEO Report of course Smile

Hope that helps.

Niall

Well done, it is worth it. We had our first week of a sale each day, that has been something else.

Thanks for the SEO tips. It's true...VERY addicting with that first sale. Now I want to devote every spare moment to making my site stronger and driving traffic. Kinda made the day job more bearable this week!

Okay boysbach,

You've helped me set my eyes on my next goal -- a sale per day. Highest of fives to you as well!

Thanks again naillr. Great list. Questions about these two items:

Do you mean build incoming links slowly? Can you explain.

Also... crazy question... any idea on where to find a master list of free and paid directories?

Hi there,

Build links slowly
Yup I meant build incoming links slowly Smile Look at how a search engine sees a site. New site comes online and suddenly has 15,025 links pointing to it. Is that natural? Nope and it sticks out like a sore thumb with Google and potentially Yahoo.

MSN are still ok with mass incoming link building but the reality is that the most traffic comes from Y! and the big G Smile

So if you're interested in long term success then build your reciprocal links slowly and only with truly relevant linking partners. The same goes with article distribution - just distribute to 5 or 6 good directories and let them do the rest of the work Smile

As for a list of directories you can use yup I have a great list here that I use myself:

http://info.vilesilencer.com/main.php?rock=seo-friendly.php

For paid directories the big one is Yahoo - lots of good reasons to be in there Smile

Another good directory resource is http://www.isedb.com/

Hope that helps Smile

Thank you for the encouragement Ros! I haven't seen too much action since...but still riding the positive wave. I've already started my E-zine with a modest list of subscribers...and have begun submitting articles...and even a blog (yes, you inspired me Wink )

I gotta say... I LOVE blogging for all the same reasons you mentioned -- informal, easy to jot down thoughts on a whim. I'm still learning WordPress and all its quirks...but that's part of the challenge I guess.

Thanks again!

mrLenin..

Oops sorry about that....I was just commenting on some of the previous posts - Spotmea30 etc. mentioning their "first sales" and "daily sales".....it was not a direct reply to your post.

You are right....It would be nice to hear some updates on how things are going. Smile

Good Luck...

Congrats…. What a wonderful feeling.

What really works for me is a brisk walk, push ups, squats or some type of exercise. I always seem to be more alert and more focused after physically working out in some form. It doesn’t have to be a major work out it just needs to get the blood flowing.

Until next time keep the movement steady and forward towards your desires.

OH! I got another item that I use with great results. Have you written down the 3 main goals that you are moving towards?

I did then guess what I wrote a small 2 to 5 sentence paragraph defining them WOW what a motivator. Once a week I spend 5 minutes with each one and live them mentally and of course they are handy on a daily bases also. Talk about getting excited and painting a vivid mental picture. The clearer the image is the easier it is to know the direction of your destination.
