This is one my biggest concerns about starting up a site. What happens if you build a site around a certain affiliate for example Wal-Mart or Target, and they reject you? Am I going about this all wrong? To underscore my point more lets say I wanted to start a niche site up that is focused primarily on Housewares for example. The site has been setup, even the categories to showcase Wal-Marts and Target's houseware products. What do you do if after all that work you get rejected?

Thanks in advance,
Jason

Hi Jason,

This can and does happen but if you get rejected you can always email them and ask them exactly why you were refused and then kinda appeal your case. I've done this myself in the past.

Unforunately some affiliate managers need a lesson in public relations - so it can be kinda pot luck.

If you're worried about being rejected then you could always make your content on housewares more general so that it could apply to Walmart, Target or any number of other houseware affiliate programs. That way you never need to worry about being rejected OR the affiliate program being shut down (this can happen too.).

Again don't spend all your time in planning. Some time in doing too Smile

Also be aware that "Just 'cuz" is becoming a more popular reason for rejection by a merchant, according to Revenue Magazine.

Your best bet is to develop a list of prospective merchants for your niche site. If one decides to bag out on you, you're not left holding that bag!!
