eBay Affiliate Program - non-US users

My first post-- please excuse my clumsy username. My other choices were taken...

My question is: Did anyone outside the US successfully join eBay's affiliate program. I tried to join through CJ, but my application was immediately rejected. I assume it is because I am registered in Japan. I know that in the handbook, Rosalind mentions it as a favorite program and I believe she is based in Canada. So perhaps it is recent. Anyway, what a senseless restriction!

Hi I am based in the UK I joined Ebay UK through their website which then took me to CJ who I have to say I had never heard of at that time. I joined and was accepted and then applied for Ebay.com which again I was accepted.

Have you tried ebay in Japan and then try and add the others afterwards.

You can always email them to ask why they refused you. Yahoo small business refused me so I sent them an email asking why especially as I was paying them to host my site, they soon relented.

Thanks for your quick reply. Actually, eBay of Japan folded several years ago. The opposite of the situation in the US, Yahoo Auctions are very popular here as Yahoo is a big internet provider and many people knew the name. eBay Japan was a small site and eventually disappeared.

Thanks for your advice about eBay UK, though. I will try to get into the program that way. What baffles me is the Commission Junction show on their eBay page banners for eBay Italy (in Italian!), eBay UK, etc., but only affiliates based in the US can join the program.

I missed that on the sign up with CJ because we are UK based. I had no problems and even signed up with Ebay US.
