Further to my previous posting on my True Ghost Stories ebook, one other idea I was considering was offering the ebook FREE to each visitor who purchased from my Amazon links. Maybe this would encourage them to buy.
Would I be better off doing this? |

Hi Truegho,
That's an option, however the commission amounts on Amazon books and products is generally so low, that you might be looking at a losing proposition.
You might consider making your offers more valuable or a better alternative to those options listed on Amazon, instead.
cheers,

Truego have you considered selling books from other suppliers other than Amazon. I have them on my site because any pence made is better than nothing, but most people know Amazon and would go there direct rather than through a third party.
For the moment I would say it you have written an ebook try it out on ebay and see how it goes, do an instant download using someone like payloadz which is free. You might find you get some traffic from both places, also look to get a higher rate of traffic and see that converting into sales. BTW have you google ads on the site because even 50p a day soon mounts up. |

I have considered selling other ghost books from other suppliers (e.g. Barnes and Noble). It's just a question of picking the right affiliate where commissions are reasonable.
Trying out an ebook on Ebay is a great idea. I have often sold ordinary books and dvds on Ebay, and find it a great source of custom. In fact, I would love to open an Ebay shop, but the problem is, what to sell and getting the stock at a sufficient price to make a profit. Maybe an ebook store?
I am also with Clickbank, who offer many ebook affiliate schemes. I have a Free UK Dating site on which I have put some of these singles ebooks.
You mentioned Google ads. Do you mean those which you place on your site and get commission from Google each time somebody clicks on them? And what about Google Adwords - would you recommend it?

Have you signed up for an account with commission junction because they would have a good range of people you can sell books from. Also you can become an affilate with ebay through them as well.
There are already a number of ghost ebooks on the market with resellers rights try looking for some of those on ebay to resell, or any ebook. A shop with the UK is a good idea, it is £6 a month but if it is your first shop then the first month is free.
Yes google ads are where people click and you get paid. Also I find google adwords good as well. Make sure you control the amount you spend each day. I started with them because I got $250 voucher with my hosting company, many do a voucher as well and also with overture. Use the voucher to try it out.
If you want to take a look we have a shop online which is more general than you are looking at but it has google adsense on it as well as articles.

Hi.
Thanks for the advice. Yes, I have tried Commission Junction before, when I had dating guide site. It is very good. I may return to it, as you suggested.
Went to your online store and found it to be very well constructed. So you recommend Google adwords then? Will try it out, but as I am on the dole, I am unsure as to how much would it be best for me to start with.
Thanks again,
The Webmaster

First thing I would suggest on your site is to move the subscribe towards the top of the page and get rid of the yellow words on it. I almost missed it but couldn't read the words easily.
Thanks for the complement on the site.
Adwords are a good form of advertising. Have you checked out the searches done on Overture for ghosts etc? That might give you a good idea of what words to use for your advertising.
Adsense is the adverts on the site and they are free to put on. You might not generate much income and they don't pay until you reach $100 but it worth considering as ever little penny would be worth it.
Have you submitted your site to the search engines? If you go to google and "about google" you will see submit your site. Takes only moments to do and is free. I did it and did a small advertising campaign because we are doing unpaid work overseas so even less of a regular income and we had a lot more people come and with alexa we went up over 900,000 places. Still a long way to go but progress.
Check out your hosting company because they might give you a credit for google and overture. I just found ours has given us$50 for overture but they didn't tell us, so a nice surprise. Use the credit they give you but limit it to a small amount daily so you can use it over the month and see what gets the hits and what doesn't.
If you are looking to raise finances to maintain your site buy some books on ebay, they are quite cheap with resellers rights and then resell them on. It might not be what you want to do long term but it must be worth it.
You can get a package for a few pounds and then spilt them up. See what is around. |

BTW tomorrow 9/3 is a 10p listing day on ebay UK so that would be a good day to post some items for sale.
