Hello,

If you sell an item in the State in which you reside you must collect sales tax.

I never see anyone collecting the tax with dowloadable products or other items that are sent to a buyer through snale mail.

What am I missing?

Thank You,

Jim

Hello Jim,

Part of the beauty of being an affiliate marketer is that you don't have to worry about stuff like inventory, shipping or sales tax. The vendor does all of that.

Even if you sell a downloadable product as a merchant and use a third-party payment processor like Clickbank, then they are responsible for collecting sales tax as appropriate.

Trust me, if I had to worry about more accounting issues than despositing my cheques and sending stuff to my accountant, I wouldn't bother with any of it!

Cheers,
Rosalind

Jim not all of us live in the States. Being a Brit with a company registered there I don't put tax on my goods (not my merchants ones) until I reach a certain level, and then it would go onto the invoice. We will have it included in the price not added afterwards.
