Our site:
www.christiandatereview.com
It was hard work this week but now we have a reasonable version.
Please, take a look, anyone with good advice.
Since we are newbies and following this road for the first time!
Thanks in advance... |

Hi Chris,
That's a great start on your site. Don't focus so much on perfection as having a presence
Little things I'd change just at a quick glance. These are only personal opinions however.
1. Align the table to the centre of the page.
2. Move the flower graphic to the righthand side of the page and move your commandments and bookstore menu to the lefthand side. People expect menus on to be on the left.
3. You have a domain name now so why use a hotmail address? Much better to have vink@christiandatereview.com than vink2000@hotmail.com.
You can always forward your Hotmail to your @domain.com email address instead.
4. Maybe make your commandment and bookstore menu background color the same as the page footer or vice versa?
Just a few thoughts.

Hello Chris, this is my first post here, I'm working on my own page at the moment. Hopefully it will be up for review soon. anyway.
I checked out your site, this is what I noticed right of the bat that I personally would change.
1) You have a great URL. Although I knew the name of it before I visited, when the site came up, the name...all in one cursive font line, was hard for me to read as 3 separate words, which I believe it should be.
I would drop the .com off and put a little space between the words.
2) As Niall said, I would aline the whole site to the center of the screen. It's a very easy fix if the whole site is based in a table.
3) I would ditch the flower picture, and add a happy couple, or a happy single. when I see flowers I think...well girly. you want both sexes right?
4) The Geneses Scripture, should be in a different color or font, its hard for me to read. I am using a screen resolution of 1024x768. I would bet that at least 50% of people on 17" are larger moniters use this resoulution or even smaller. test yours to see your site in a whole new light.
5) The captions of the table on the right seems somewhat redundent.
for example the title "10 commandments" right over the subject "10 commandments. all three are like that. Maybe remove or change the titles in a way to refer but not be the same as the content line.
6) after you click on a review, you may want to add the links to your other review at the very bottom of the page so that the user doesnt have to use his back button every time, and the more you have other info in front of them, the better chance that they will click another affilate.
7) lastly I would probably make your affiliate licks open up in new windows. this gives you another chance that they will click on more links on your site, because it will still be there until they close it out.
I hope this helps. good luck on your site!

Hi Chris
I agree with both Greg and Niallr... great suggestions. Greg mention that he viewed the Genisis verse in 1024 resolution... I'm 800x600 and it was still difficult to read. If you want to leave the colour alone, then change the font so it's easier to read. Ditto on the flower picture... I have a two flower related webistes and I wouldn't use that pic on either of them... I agree that a nice picture of a couple would better suit the theme of your site.
All in all, your site is delightful... I was pleased with the reviews and am going to bookmark you site for a day when I'm ready to try dating again!
Oh... one further note... did you know that you can change the colour of your hyperlinked text to make those the title? Example... you could do away with the '10 commandments' title, just by changing the colour of your hyperlink to red and encompasing it with <strong></strong> tags or bold tags or whatever you prefer. It's not too bad the way it is, but try it to see how you like the look. |

Hi Chris I agree with the other comments about changing either the font or the colour of the Gen text because it is hard to read. Also I would centre the table because I find it easier to read but that is personal. I know lots of sites don't and it doesn't make any difference.
Your greetings need a little punch to them, shorter sentences etc. It is always difficult to say what you are thinking, but you are doing a great job. Also put the button back to the main page on the top as well as the bottom, some of us always look for it at the top regardless of where it it
