|
|
Hello from OZ.
I'm currently building my first site with one of the pages devoted to working from home. One of the merchants I've signed up with is Amazon as they have such a huge selection of relevant books that I haven't seen available here in Australia. Can someone advise what is the best way to promote these on the site? I tried putting a link in for each book but as there are so many it got messy, so should I just suggest readers go to Amazon themselves to do a search and leave it at that?
Many thanks. And thanks to you Rosalind for getting me into this exciting way of earning a living! |

Hello Dynamic63,
Although I don't find selling books very profitable in the whole scheme of things, I still like to add a few relevant books (and magazines) to each of my affiliate sites... just to have the 'Books' link in the navigation bar.
I always add a little review and the book graphic to my listings. It may be more work initially, but it makes the site look better, and therefore adds value.
Depending on the product that you are selling, you may want to add a 'for more info' link or banner at the bottom of each of your Books pages to products that are better, more profitable sellers.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Ros |

A reply from the guru(ess) herself! Thankyou Ros and I'll take your advice. I do have one more question on a different topic - RSS feeds. Do you or anyone esle know of a link I can go to to explain the basics of these?
Thanks again!!

Hi Jo,
Here's another resource... an article that I wrote last December in the NPT called "What the Heck is RSS, and How Will it Help Me?".
You'll see an example of how a single news 'item' appears on an XML page and there's a link to a really good list of 'aggregators'.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Ros |

Thanks again Ros. Looks like it will take a bit of learning so for now I think I'll focus on just getting my site published or I won't have any readers to supply info to! And yes, you get a big plug on my "A Living Online" page!
By the way, (and this is a totally irrelevant topic that doesn't belong here), but has anyone else been exposed to this "Success University" MLM scheme that is appearing all over the place? Can't say I'm a fan of MLM but wondered if the fuss was warranted or is my interest because I am temporarily being sucked in by the hype!

Hi Jo
I subscribed to the "Success University" newsletter just to get the dibs on it before spending any cash... If you have Rosalinds Super Affiliate Handbook, and come to this forum and the other ones she recommends (they're free), then you don't need the Success University... from what I can see, there is not much other info there that you won't find in Ros's handbook or the forums, but you have to decide if it would be valuable to you. I joined Jim Daniel's BizWeb2000 forum and between these two forums I get all the info I need to keep up to date.
Rosalind has a few forums listed in her Super Affiliate Handbook but I won't assume I can post them here.
Also, I registered at SiteBuildIt and the resources available there are absolutely out of this world - just sign up as an affiliate, read and learn! I'm building my next website using SiteBuildIt because of all the info I've gleaned from this forum. |
