I am just beginning to research and learn about all of this. In my quest, I seem to have come across the "polar opposites" in internet marketing: Rosalind Gardner's SA Handbook & it's teachings and...The Rich Jerk.
I know that there is information to be gleaned from ALL avenues, and that I will ultimately have to decide for myself what type of business I want to run. But I have one specific question:
Has anyone else out there received an offer (from whatever source) for "individual mentoring"? If so, could you please relay your experience?
I have received such an offer. At first, I was enthused and interested. But quickly, I started to smell a sales pictch coming. I am supposed to talk with someone about this on Wednesday. I would love to hear from anyone with a similar experience and get your take on it.
Thanks! |

I would be very careful of these so called gurus and mentors that make to good to be claims and promises. Alot of them probably use the info in Rosalinds book as well as other affiliate resources.
I have spent quite a bit of money on books, courses and other information and I can honestly tell you that dollar for dollar, Rosalinds book gives you the most practical and step by step blueprint for success. of course you have to put it into action and be a mover and not a sideline affiliate info junkie that gets knowhere because of brain freeze and information overload.
I have found that if you learn, apply and put into action, any software or information that you purchase, you will have a better chance at success. If you continue the hunt for "The Magic Formula" and you go from product to product and never take action, you increase your chances to fail and may never realize that the magic formula has been sitting in your c/unzipped folder all the time.
Good luck with your marketing |

Thanks, WindyCity, for your response.
As it turns out, the "guru" that was supposed to call me at 1:00 pm on Wednesday never called. That should tell me something, huh? |

Hi Roxie,
WindyCity is right here. Chasing rainbows with affiliate marketing is both time consuming and expensive. Find the marketing method that suits you best and attack it with passion and committment. Pursue one single method until you're great at it and then add more "spokes" to your marketing wheel
As for the "mentor" phone calls. I got one a while ago and the guy said I could "buy in" for anywhere from $5,000 to about $20,000. I almost laughed at him on the phone to be honest. Why in Gods name would I pay that much money when I could learn 90% of the same info in a good ebook for $97 or heck even go for one of the $997 big marketing courses and be done with it
Rosalinds ebook is a great example of a complete course on marketing and business in total.
Cheers

Hi Roxie
I have been mentored a couple of times when I first started out. The first time was with a very reputable MLM company... I did get my moneys worth, BUT It was painful trying to apply everything I was being taught because I was SO new to online marketing. There is a big learning curve for anyone venturing onto the net to start a business. BTW, the mentoring was provided to all members.
My second mentoring experience came from a lead generation/ autoresponder company... it was supposed to teach me how to use their system to the fullest to generate income... for me and for them... the resources were incredible, but again, I was buried with information and needed to spend a fair bit of money to implement their system. Again, the mentoring came with membership.
You've got to realize that NO one is going to spend a lot of time with tire kickers... time is money, and no one has time to waste. If you are a serious prospect, then they'll spend time teaching you whatever you need to know to build your business. What helps you ultimately helps them. Sooo, expect the sales pitch... but keep an open mind cause they may actually have exactly what you're looking for. If not, be upfront and let them know.
I've made the mistakes mentioned above, of jumping from "program to program", "ebook to ebook"... I feel like I've tried them all... it wasn't until a year ago that I found a step-by-step resource
From personal experience, and knowing what I know now, my advice would be to invest in TWO marketing courses... you'll need nothing more to educate yourself and the mentoring that comes with them both is free...called forums and member resources. The information in both these courses allows you to build YOUR choice of business, with all kinds of suggestions and advice, but gives you the info you need to do it right.
Here's the two manual:
Super Affiliate Handbook
http://www.linkshield.com/c/753_13
Insiders Secrets to Marketing on the Internet
http://www.linkshield.com/c/753_14
I think Rosalind would agree that these two manuals will help anyone decide not only What type of business to build, but How to build it right the first time. Rosalind's Super Affiliate Handbook is the least expensive of the two.
P.S. The Rich Jerk - Genius marketing tactic!!! Kind of offensive, but you can't stop reading his Ad copy just to see what he's going to say next! I signed up for his newsletter, but he gives absolutely NO free info away... the carrot he dangles to get you to buy his info is Orange and shaped like a carrot, but you can't get your teeth into it until you do buy! |
