Hi Ros,
Do you think its a good idea to have a site hit counter somewhere ?
It does shows to us and surfers the number of times the site's been hit, but is it a good idea for marketing ? |

I know you asked Ros, but I'll chime in.
I would not include a hit counter on a business site - unless I had a wildly popular website and just want to brag about it
You're tracking your visitors through your hosting stats right? So it doesn't really add any value to the site to show a counter. |

I agree with kellymccausey. Hit counters were really popular back in the mid to late 90's on personal websites. IMO it makes a business website look unprofessional.
Now don't get me wrong, it is a must to track and find out where your traffic is coming from but there is know need to share this information with your website visitors.
If they really want to know how many people have come to your website, they can always go to Alexa.com and find out. |
