Hi everyone,
I am sorry for possible offtopic, but I need your help in find new web hosting provider as soon as possible, because my current host (bluehost.com) is kicking me off, they say 'your account is using a lot server resources', but my website gets only about 200 visitors per day and my disk usage is 1500 MB (maybe they do not like that?)

Anyway, what would be your recommendations for getting reliable web hosting? Where are you hosting your websites? Are you happy with your providers?

I am now checking hosting24 - offer looks very nice, but is it real that they can provide unlimited disk space?
I have contacted them about this question and they say something that "These days 500GB disk drive costs only $30 per month, so if some day we will run out of disk space we will simply add new 500GB disk drive with almost zero costs and you can continue uploading without any problems".

What do you think about it? Maybe things have changed in last 4 years? With my current provider I get only 2GB of disk space for $10 per month..
Any ideas and suggestions are much appreciated.

Some web hosts are offering unlimited bandwidth and large amounts of storage space. I use Host Gator for dedicated servers. They also have a plan with 350Gb of space and 3,000Gb bandwidth for $4.95 per month.

Check the link in my signature.

Hope that helps.

Hello, OxyGen, and Welcome to the forum! Very Happy

Are you running any server-side scripts?

If so, you may want to check your log files to see if your scripts are optimized and running efficiently. Inefficient scripts can really eat up server resources and can cause the hosting company to restrict or cancel your account.

It may be too late to stay with this host, but if this is the trouble and you fix it, then you should not have trouble with your next host.

Hope this helps, and please keep us posted!

Oxygen -

Disk storage and bandwidth are cheaper than ever. That is true. The issues with most of these "unlimited" hosts is bandwidth throttling, and slow download speeds when servers are oversold.

I'll explain. I believe, from what you've said, that your problem goes back to the way web hosts sell. Most of them say they will give you gobs of storage and bandwidth, but usually there's something in the fine print that allows them to throttle you back to nothing if you affect other users on the shared server.

"Shared" is the key to their right to do this. You share server space with other users. The server your site is on is most likely oversold.

Unlike most users, you are actually using a lot of storage. That's probably what they don't like. They can boot you and put 5 or 10 people who will pay the same as you in the same amount of disk space. I know this is not what they say, but it is what they are most likely doing.

Can't conjecture anything else from what you've said. If you're telling us the only reason they want you gone, then get ye elsewhere. Nothing worse than being hosted by a company that doesn't want you.

Good luck.

Lowell
