Pen Name or no Pen Name? That is the question...

I know some people say to come up with a pen name to keep the various sites one does a "SECRET". Is this a common or uncommon practice? The risk I see is by using a pen name most people will use photos as well. So do these people with pen names use fake photos as well or do they take the chance of having one photo with two different names attached to it?

You see, my last name is a tough long Ukranian name that would be hard for most to spell unless they were born with it. I think keeping it real is the way to go, but maybe I am wrong with this?

Just curious to see what others think about this!
