Hi Mark
I wanted to know roughly the price of a meal. I thought most were around the same price. The £3/4 works though.
I am getting the final touches to my diet e-course and want to use the price of fast food as an example of the price of the course.

The prices will change in the U.S. depending on where the particular Mc.Donald's is located. Today I stopped by one location and the cost of a Double Cheeseburger was $1(i didn't look at the meal price but i am guessing it is close to $4). I bought the Double Cheeseburger meal at Disneyland a year ago and I think it cost $7. Both Mc.Donald's are located in Southern California, but I think the disneyland location was able to raise the costs simply due to the fact that you don't really have a choice of going anywhere else. The first location i mentioned had much lower prices due to competition. There are so many other burger places to go that actually have quality burgers, so a consumer will USUALLY only choose to go to Mc.Donald's if the line is small or the food is cheap enough.
Off subject - If you can ever make it out to Southern California you MUST try In-N-Out Burgers. All of my friends that don't live in this state ask to go there first when they come to visit. The prices for a combo are similar...but the diffrerence in quality is like choosing between and delicious steak or a peice of paper. |

Thanks Jason that helps a lot.
We are going to be in LA later in the year enroute to Guatemala now where do we find this burger place or am I totally in the wrong place. We haven't made any plans except we meet up with friends in LA before moving on. We plan to spend a few days there seeing the place etc as I have never been there before. Any recommendations what to see? |

Yup, that's an odd question alright.
But in marketing, thinking out of the box is usually good
Anyway, in my state, which is in the US.
The meals are from $3.00 to $6.00, depending on what you like.
The $1.00 double cheese burger is from the dollar menu.
And they have a lot more for a dollar too.
I'm wondering if it might be worth checking into.
Because MY family dines off of the dollar menu about once every other week.
I'm wondering if this is a normal thing... and betting it is.
Just a thought.

| Hi Brad thanks for that. Next question if your family eat out using the $ menu what do they normally eat and how much would it cost them each? |

That depends on SO many things,
let me explain a bit.
If I decide to bring home dinner,
(or if the wife calls and tells me she "isn't cooking tonight" )
Then I will just buy $1.00 cheese burgers and fries for all,
and then supplement the order with drinks and such from home.
Something like that costs about $15.00 plus tax.
(2 burgers and fries for each, family of 5)
But if we are in the car together when we decide,
my budget goes out the window
We still order from the dollar menu,
but include drinks, and the youngest needs a "happy meal", etc. etc.
I always seem to spend about $25.00 that way.
This is still a good deal.
But I'd rather buy patties and buns, and light the fire.
For some reason, everything stops for a barbque.
And when we all sit on the back deck together,
we end up playing catch, or chatting for hours.
Unlike what happens at the dinner table.
And you can't get that off any menu, at any price.
Hope it helps!
Brad. |

Sounds like you have quite a trip ahead of you! Your friends may already know the In-N-Out location closest to where you will be when you are in Los Angeles, but if they don't, you can always look up locations at thier website (http://www.in-n-out.com). Since this will be your first time to the area, you will probably have a lot you will want to see(Hollywood, Beaches, Beverly Hills Masnions...). Unfortunately seeing everything can get pretty exhausting. I am not sure if you like amusement parks or not, but I think some travel companies might have special discount packages(your friends may get discounts through thier places of employment). I think by law, everyone MUST go to Disneyland and least once in thier life(If you are here durring the middle of the week that is usually the best time to go and avoid lines). Universal Studios can also be a fun time if you want to get that Hollywood behind the movies experience(they have a tour of thier backlots and a few really cool shows to see).
There is a lot you can do here, so you'd just need to say what kind of things you like to get a clear picture of what to go see. In the winter time I have friends that surf in the morning and then go snowboarding that same night(only in the winter of course). Just a few hours drive through the desert can take you to Las Vegas, and a drive up the California coast is a beautiful thing to do if you like the ocean and beautiful sunsets.
...So you have lots of options...my favorites: Las Vegas, Disneyland, and an occasional In-N-Out burger. The drive up the coast is great but I'd recommend taking a week or two for that and go from San Diego all the way up to Oregon, so you can get the full experience and take in everything.
I hope that helps... |

| Bev - I'm not certain of the exact amounts but I think a childrens happy meal is about 1.79 and something like a Big Mac Meal with fries is about 2.79 in British Pounds. And I think I know why you're asking. Will send feedback soon. |

Hi Jack what are you doing in Beijing and Guangzhou opposite ends of the country? We lived in China for 2 years still have our apartment there as we are moving to Hong Kong. If you need any tips for Beijing let us know, places to eat, taxis sightseeing etc.

Our Wal-Mart’s here in Florida all have a McDonalds. I guess it is a contract between the 2 or Wal-Mart has paid for franchises. I know of one instance where the Wal-Mart is adjacent to another plaza and this plaza has a free standing McDonald’s in it's parking lot that has been there for years prior to the building of the super Wal-Mart. If you think it's crazy that Disney etc charges different prices. How about the fact that the one in Wal-Mart, no more than a few thousand feet from the free standing building, has a huge price difference. The Wal-Mart one not only has a limited menu but does not honor any of the promotions such as the dollar double cheeseburger. I noticed the difference one day after shopping at Wal-Mart. I entered the one within the store only to walk out. I simply put my groceries in the car and seriously walked to the free standing one (it's that close) and saved myself a good $6.00 on lunch for myself and 2 children. Imagine that........... PS in response to no one wanting McDonalds unless thee food is cheap or line short because of the variety or better burger restaurants. I actually do get a taste for McDonalds once a month and nothing else will do to quench it. I think it's their diced onions that has addicted me. Anyways, I agree the price difference from place to place is annoying, i wish they'd get their ducks in a row. |

Bev,
Interesting to hear you lived in China! My wife is from Beijing. This will be my second time in China, but the trip to Guangzhou will be my first. I hear that Guangzhou is much different from Beijing, so I'm not quite sure what to expect there as far as how easy it is to get a taxi, good restaurants (or McDonalds, hehe), etc. We'll only be down there for a few days, then back to Beijing. Since my wife is Chinese, it is a great help, but even she is unfamiliar with south China. I'm definately open to any tips or advice you want to throw my way Bev, thanks soooo much!
BTW, last year I paid for my trip from my savings... This year my website paid for it! Thanks ROS!!! You were my inspiration to finally stop dreaming and actually get started with internet marketing!

Jack we have never been to Guangzhou but hope to use it as a hub soon when we travel from Hong Kong back to Xi'an to pack up our apartment. If I find anything useful I will let you know.
But I would suggest going to www.tripadvisor.com as they have a forum and you will be able to get advice from people who live there. The furthest south we have been is Chengdu, but we have travelled a lot including Lhasa last year.
You must go to Tiananmen as they have a clock which is counting down to the Olympic. I have a piccie from last July showing the time including how many hours, minutes and seconds to the start.
Interesting there are fewer McD's in China than KFC. To have a McD's franchise costs US$1 million to have a KFC franchise only cost US$100,000 see how full of useless information I am
