Hi,
We are excited about exploring the world of affiliate marketing. I'm re-reading Rosalind's "The Super Affiliate Handbook", and going step by step this time as recommended.
After trying for almost a year to get my own e-commerce site going, I've decided to try affilitate marketing. My own background has over 30 years of conventional sales and marketing along with 12 years of owning my own retail business with my wife.
We've reached the point in our life that we like to travel a lot (empty nest, no grandchildren yet), and a regular site meant I had to be around to ship stuff when it sold.
When we closed our store, I said no more employees, no receivables, no payables and as little overhead as possible.
It looks like affiliate marketing will be perfect for us. We are only exploring avenues of products and services we have a real interest in, so it should be enjoyable.
The great thing I see about this is even though we are competitors in some cases, the market is so huge we can still help each other.
I will be happy to share my management experience for those who may not have had the luxury of running their own business and have questions.
The first thing I will suggest is making sure you have a comfortable chair and that you pay as little as possible for it. I got a leather one today at Walmart for $55.00. Another is that if you plan on doing this full-time like we are, is to set regular office hours. Even if you like to sleep until noon (I am a night owl), get up take a shower, dress and go to your office, and work the number of hours you set for yourself.
If you're doing this part-time, I suggest you still set the number of hours weekly that allows you to spend time with your family/friends. All work and no play makes Jack/Jill a dull person. But you'll be amazed at how much free time you can find in a week if you plan.
So, we hope everybody gets rich, us included!

It sounds as though you have found the perfect business for your needs.
And with your experience, you should do very well indeed.
And of course, your experience is VERY welcome here.
We work together well here, better than most I think.
I found this recently,
and thought it would be a great compliment to your post:
