Looking through the extensive list of items included with SBI, I did not see an autoresponder. Maybe it is built into another one of their programs. For a non-techie, SBI appears to be a good choice if you want to do it all yourself without having to know any of the technical details.
I also did not see what type of blogging software they use, or how flexible it is for adding plugins. That can be important if you focus a lot of your marketing on writing.
Detailed traffic stats are not highlighted on their site either. Those are important for monitoring your visitors; how they found you, navigated through your site and from which page they left.
Both SBI and a separate host would require some learning in each area. SBI includes the web page editing online, which is also included in cPanel or can be a separate program.
The beauty of cPanel is that although there are a lot of options, there are only a few that you will use on a regular basis: managing email, checking stats, creating shorter links (through the domain forwarding section), maybe even the file manager (which now can even unzip files for you).
One thing I like about cPanel is a little-known option called Webdisk. It allows you to log in securely and transfer files using the familiar Windows Explorer interface.
So it all comes down to what you want: save money and do it yourself, or have (almost) everything built into an online interface.
