Well I did. Yes, I was a bit naive, but still, I learned some good lessons. When I started out with my first product, I sent an email to all the big gurus. And you know what? They all came back to me within the hour, begging me to accept them as a JV partner.
No, I'm only kidding. Not a single person came back to me! And that's not even surprising, because I got it all wrong.
Here are some the things I completely screwed up – so, don't do that:
* I sent an email, instead of calling them or sending a regular letter.
* The mail was completely impersonal and full of stupid hype: I accept only a limited number of JV partners, so you better hurry up... blah, blah. I'm sure, Mr. Mark Joyner got quite scared on missing out on that fabulous opportunity
* I didn't bother finding out more about my potential JV partners & I didn't make any effort to establish a relationship with them.
* I should have started with the "smaller guns" – networking with people on forums... for example.
* All I had to offer was 50% of the profits. That's ridiculous. If you wanna do a JV with one of the big guys offer at least 90% - don't forget, you get access to their list and that means $$$ in the long run.
* My product didn't match at all with some of the guys lists. The gurus are concerned more than anything else with their list. Their list is their business & income and they won't burn it for a meager 50% on an unproven product that doesn't even fit.
And I'm sure, these weren't even all the mistakes I made…
How about your JV highs and lows? Please share some of your JV mistakes and top tips.
Thanks
