Hi Ross
I se that you use AWeber to track the activity from your e-mails you send to your list using a link from AWeber like this one:
| Code: | | http://clicks.aweber.com/z/ct/?klkOrYq3gTqBfNxoxi36yQ |
Can you tell how/where and what about this methode? |

Greetings Anders!
As you noted, that's Aweber's tracking link. It shows me exactly how many people clicked on the link from within the message I sent.
If you're of an analytical mindset, it could be useful to determine at which position in a message it is best to place links (the top).
Too, you may find that having too many links decreases overall response,
or that you get better response sending your broadcast messages out on a Tuesday as opposed to a Wednesday.
It's interesting to note what percentage of your overall subscribers actually visit your site from the newsletter. Perhaps you should give less infomation in your newsletter and offer more links back to your site which will help your site's overall popularity in the engines.
All in all you can use the stats to develop a more effective email campaign.
The only downside that I've seen with the Aweber tracking links is that they don't work with redirects. Tried it awhile ago... good NPT readers wrote to let me know that the links didn't work.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Ros |

I use Aweber also, and *love* their tracking options. I do wish they would come up with more attractive links, but I suppose that would be asking too much LOL
I'm a stats junkie, so this feature is one of the many reasons that I use and recommend Aweber.

What kind of redirects? Do you mean "tinyurl" links... or meta refresh redirects... or 301 redirects... or all? (I havent tried using redirects yet, but would love to know what to avoid should i decide to...) |

| When you are creating a new Broadcast Message in your Aweber account, simply click the box next to "Enable tracking of click-throughs from links in your message" - it is right there above the Subject Line field. |

Hi Lynn,
Thanks for your answer, but I actually meant “How do you make this tracking links in your message:

That's how you do it, actually.
It wont show up in your test email (if I remember correctly) - but it will in your actual mailing. If you are on your own mailing list, then you can see how it looks when you send your next email through Aweber.
When you click that box to select that option while you are creating your Broadcast Message, Aweber will automatically insert those tracking links into each email that goes out.
Then you can go back into your account later to look at the stats. |

Hello Anders,
Lynn is exactly right... that's all there is to it.
If you are concerned about whether your links will work with the Aweber click tracking, you might consider setting up another list within your Aweber account to use as a test list.
Subscribe yourself to the test list, then send your planned broadcast message through that list with click tracking enabled.
If they work OK, you're good to go!
Cheers,
Ros |

Hi Anders,
That's a really good point about adding "http://" to all links in emails.
Many email readers won't create a clickable link if the http:// isn't present.
See... 3 minds are better than one!
Cheers,

That was a good point, thanks for sharing!
I am in the habit of always using the http:// for the reason Rosalind stated above... but I bet there are a lot of people who didnt realize that... |
