Who Will Win the First 5 Memberships?

I was plugging away today at building content for my new membership site (the mulitmedia version of the Super Affiliate Handbook) when I stopped long enough to read an email from Stu McLaren.

The email pointed me to a video about the top 10 membership models created using Wishlist Member — software that you can use on a Wordpress blog to turn it into a membership site.

One of the membership models that Stu mentions in the video was one I hadn’t thought of before – but it’s brilliant – and now that’s what I want to do with the site.

Too, some of the models that he talks about in the video you wouldn’t normally consider a “membership site”. However, once you hear how they are setup, you’re going to get a lot of ideas for how you can use it in your business.

Each of the models discussed in the video also includes a real-world
    example of a web site
using these models — along with the URL, so you can check them out first-hand.

Watch the membership model video and check out these sites. Stu also gives you a link to see some how-to videos. If you decide to optin, you’ll also see comments from other people who’ve created similar sites. They’ve even added their own “twist” to the “Top 10″.

Check out the videos for really great blogging / membership site ideas.

Too, the first 5 readers to leave a comment correctly naming the model I’ve chosen, will win a free membership to the new site. :-) (I anticipate it will launch in January).

Comments are now closed and the winners have been announced here.

      Hey Rosalind,

Is the membership model you’re choosing #10: The Combo Model?

Thanx for showing us this video – good stuff!

      Hey Ros,

I think you’re going to go for model number 4 – I reckon you’d enjoy putting us through a test as we move through each section!

It’s the one idea he mentioned that had a unique twist to you that I think you may have grabbed onto!

      Hi Ros!

I am guessing it going to be the combo model. Looking at all of the different services you provide, this could provide the handbook in a modular model, the forum in the community model, and your coaching services in the coaching model. This would also allow the distribution of the handbook with the protected download providing protection from digital theft.

One question though. Will the handbook still be available as an ebook?

I think I’m gonna have to go with #3 Micro-Continuity Model as my vote. While viewing the video, I had 2 prominent Qs bouncing around in my head: “Which model was new to Ros?” and “Which might she not just gravitate to for an SAH membership site, but possibly switch gears to midway?”

      Hi Rosalind,

I purchased your Super Affiliate Handbook last year…great, solid content.

I sure like the idea of a simple means of making a blog into a membership site.

After viewing Stu’s video I suspect you could go with a number of different models but I suspect you’ll go with the “Combo” model.

      Good luck,

      Kief

      Hi Rosalind,

I am guessing you would go for the Modular Model since you will be teaching various things in a progression like in your Super Affiliate Handbook. The software looks very interesting and if I setup a membership site I will check it out. Thanks. Steve

      Hi Ros,

This was a very informative video, but its sound was not working for me :)
So I just went through the video on mute and still gained quite a lot of information.

My Guess is # 3 – Micro Continuity

I think it would make your new site more interesting and profitable than a simple one level membership.

      Thanks,
      Mayank

I’m guessing you will use the combo model, #10. The Super Affiliate Handbook would be a natural to use the micro continuation model, but I would expect that you would opt for something ongoing after that, and would probably add the community model.

Thanks for the great info Ros. It was a toss-up but I think you are going to be using the Combo Model.

      Hi Rosalind,

This looks like a really useful and practical product, so thank for passing along the information. I think that you would be inclined to go for the first model to do with content called the Publisher Model.

You are so doing the combo model.
+ publisher for more in depth with your blog and articles
+ protected download because of your ebook
+ community center to pull together super affiliates
+ coaching site – hey, isn’t it time to set up a coaching program :-)

Hey, Ros! Hope I’m not too late, couldn’t access the page earlier this morning. You’re right about Wishlist Member: they’ve got a lot of great ideas. Regarding your choice for your new site, I’d thought the safe route at first would be the “Combo Model”, but since you said a new idea, I was thinking “Modular” (but, Anik’s crew has been doing that for a while), then decided: Your New Site will be done with the “Micro Continuity” Model! If you check out my blog, you’ll see I need all the help I can get. :-)

Thanks for the great information Rosalind! While I’ve known that the membership model is the way to go online, I never knew there were so many different ways to actually do it. I always thought it was just providing “extra” content in addition to what you’re already providing on your site or email list on some kind of password protected page.

Also, the ability to use Wordpress makes it very appealing. I’m not an HTML wiz by any means but I do know my way around WP. I think this is especially helpful for people who are bootstrapping (like me) and may not want to pay a designer.

      Very cool.

Thank you again for the great info!

Update, got the video to work from the second page.
This is good stuff. Implamentation into wordpress is outstanding.

In regards to what model you selected, I would have to say Micro continuity.
We have all seen or used most of them with the exception of UPS and Micro.

But thats just a guess, there are many great models.
      Thanks

That was an interesting video Rosalind! It was very interesting to see those different membership model ideas.

I was feeling somewhat confident in my guess until he reached model #10… a mix of all the previous models! That’s what I would pick, with one strong focus… but I’m guessing you’re looking for one of the more specific models.

So I’ll pick #4, the Modular Course. That was a pretty neat concept, especially for a multimedia training program.

Hi Dennis (and everyone else who just got about 99 emails)

UGH, the pain of checking that box to receive follow-up comments
by email when there are a LOT of comments. :-)

The server was SO sluggish yesterday that I just gave up after
it would take nearly a minute to login and load a page. Ergo,
I just approved all those comments now.

Should be announcing the winners in another post shortly.

        Cheers,
        Ros
