What Type of Online Business Training Suits You Best?

We all have different learning styles, preferences and needs; and I want to deliver training that suits YOU best.

So describe for me (via the comment section below) your perfect online business training scenario, detailing both your best learning style and prefered pace.

Here are a few ’style’ examples:

    • I prefer to read step-by-step instructions (eg. ebooks, softcover).
    • I learn best by listening (eg. audio recordings, teleseminars, one-on-one coaching calls).
    • SHOW me what to do! Video training courses (webinars) work best for me.
    • I learn best in a live event situation (eg. classroom setting, conference).
    • I want the opportunity to get answers to my questions as they arise (eg. mentoring).
    • I prefer a combination of materials, i.e. video training combined with written instructions.

Here are some examples of ‘pace’.

    • I like to set my own pace.
    • Homework assignments with scheduled deadlines make me more productive.

Simply thinking about and understanding your prefered learning style and pace will speed your progress and chances for success!

I like to read step-by-step or audio training. I’m a procrastinator, so I need deadlines.

I learn best in the classroom so this is my first self-teaching experience. I think video training courses would work best since that is the closest method to the classroom. I have used the Super Affiliate Handbook but I think some things just need to be demonstrated. Thtanks for your continuous support Ros!

        Hi Marilyn,

To figure out the domain name you choose is strong enough (well put, by the way) ask yourself whether YOU would be compelled to click on it from amongst a list of other names relevant to your topic. If not, then perhaps you should consider another.

I have 3 favorite ways to get traffic – free search engine traffic (which Wordpress generates magnificently), article marketing and pay per click search engine advertising (fast and targeted).

I learn best by means of step by step instructions and diagrams. I’m not keen on podcasts and videos as I like to be able to read at my own speed and go over something again if need be, without having to watch the whole thing over again.

How do you look past all this and focus on what you really need ?.

I prefer a combination of materials, i.e. video training combined with written instructions.

What I would love is a mentoring program for a few days straight full time face to face for one big flat fee!!!!

Forums are good if you already understand quite a bit but need clarification on some issues that come up.

Reading books and watching videos are good but leave you with a lot of unanswered questions and no one to turn to. Yes you can post in forums but the questions are sooo many. You need to be able to shoot the questions as you are going along and ideally get answered quickly to move on. This will make everything click alot quicker.

The mentor would need to be successful in the business and by the time you leave the program…you should have a successful campaign running and armed with other paths to expand into that brings more traffic…. more business..etc..

      Is there any such program??

      Hi Ros,

Like Monia I prefer something portable like “PDF” prints.

My current challenge in building my Landing page is simplifying the benefits of a health product, which contains lots of complicated bio-tech names.

In other words, I’m trying to take from scientific studies something I thought I could convert into something “everyone” needs and would buy. But simplification IS a challenge!

I like a recorded (and edited) combination of video, audio and pdf. Recorded so that I can re-play at my convenience. Edited so that distracting and/or non-useful content is removed.

I very much dislike teleseminars and webinars. Why?
      1. They require me to be at a certain place at a specific time
      2. They waste a lot of time logging in early and waiting
      3. They are ALWAYS filled with time-wasting BS and off-topic distractions
      4. They almost ALWAYS have distracting background sounds from inconsiderate participants
      5. Question/answer interviews with so-called experts. Such a waste! It’s not practical to filter out useful information from BS and retain it in any re-usable format. That means NONE OF THE USEFUL INFORMATION CAN BE PUT TO USE because I don’t have a photographic memory!

I could go on but that should give you some useful considerations.

Hi Rosalind, I learn best in a classroom environment where a teacher/mentor can explain to me why and what I need to do, then show me (practical demonstration) how to do it, and then coach me as I do it.

I recently joined a PPC Classroom training prgramme (every tuesday) online via using a webinar where the affiliate sent out a pre-course set on video recordings and step-by-step training modules. This is supplemented with a week webinar and then a download copy of the webinar is sent to me. There is an option for one-on-one coaching for a select few but I couldn’t afford it ontop of the other two options I purchased e.g #1 Training modules, and #2 Weekly webinar demos.

      Ros,
Thanks, the SAH has been a God sent, although I am still reading, I find it very intriguing, trying to understand and obsorb all the materials. Furthermore I would have like to see, where there were step-by-step written instructions for those who are interested, because I am one who likes the step by step method along with videos to follow along with. I also would like to have a place to post questions when I am unable to understand the problems that one may incur
      Thanks for asking.

The best training I have seen has videos with scripts that follow along. Generally I prefer to read because it’s faster. Wading through a 60 minute video makes me want to scream. But some things are confusing and having the video to see what confuses me on the page is a great back-up.

Having said that, I really love personal mentoring. Everyone has a specific situation and specific questions. No book or course can cover it all. The people I have known who give me detailed, personal advice for my situation are a true blessing.

Oh, and if it is impossible to speak directly with a mentor, it is nice to at least be able to email.

In terms of pace, I like a combination. I want to set my own goals, but then I like some system that holds me accountable to them.

Thank you very much. I’m interested to see what you’re cooking up with this information.

      Julia

I like all methods providing each method gets the message across. Tell me show me give me an example. Too often many details are never explained making their products just another bad effort at making a profit.
Well made videos , especially some I viewed from Google recently really helped.
I’ve learned more from them than all the gurus in the past three years trying to sell me secrets of internet marketing. I can’t deal with them anymore.
Where do we go for answers when we have questions? Mentor programs are available if you can pay the price.
Rosalind, many of your readers, like myself, are here to learn and get a start in marketing to make a profit. The downside to all this is simple economics, we can’t buy the keyword programs, services and other offers until we see a profit.

        Hi John,

The downside to all this is simple economics, we can’t buy the keyword programs, services and other offers until we see a profit.

And nor should you have to make expensive purchases that you cannot afford.

Barring a small initial investment to get my business off the ground, I’ve always made it a strict policy to earn and then re-invest those earnings to buy additional tools, software and training to expand the business.

I prefer to have written along with video tutorials such as the ones Ros did when she was doing the presell blog videos with Anik for Affiliate Classroom, although sometimes she lost me and I would have to spend more time backing up and catching up. I prefer a combination as long as it is relavent to my personal interests and goals and has been edited of time-wasting BS and “nicities” but most especially to written word and/or video-actual how-to.” I particularly DISLIKE MOST SALES COPY–evangelistic hype (BS), inflated, misguided and outright untrue and unsubstantiated claims (most of which are immediate interest killers for me if they are incongruent with previously presented material), ‘and most of them are, because, “at my age, I’ve done just about everything in my BVDs :-) ”, if you catch my drift. So, if you’re marketing to naive teens and very young adults, forge ahead, you may succeed, but if you’re marketing to the now retiring and already retired larger population, think again. We ain’t sutpid, we’ve been there-done that so you just may be pi–ing up a rope with ANY SLICK, misleading or dishonest content.

I like to follow step by step instructions that are both written and on video. I often go to Youtube to watch tutorials.

A few months ago I would have said lots of deadlines, heaps of work and rigid schedules would suit me – then a health crisis hit. As I recover, I would be more suited to less rigid scheduling for the completion of tasks. This could be managed best by me not taking on too much at once.

I am at my wits end i have information over load i just want a video that takes me by the hand to show me what to do once i know this i can takeover that is my learning strength, then things won’t seem so out of reach to me, everyone offers “this and that” but the reason i was drawn to this site and blog is i could relate and everything makes sense. With that being said i have to raise more money soon, but at a steady pace, which i do not mind and welcome, i just want to know what is takes and what the most important steps are, i just lost my job and i am surviving off of my savings which are running out. I am a single mom with a daughter who is going to college in the spring and a son just starting high school. I want to to learn the way with someone that can help and instruct “along the way” no gimmicks are welcome. I don’t have a lot to invest, i am not computer savvy, and my writing is not the best.

When i found this site I was grateful that “The Super Affiliate” was $47, which is a lot for me right now but it gave me hope to know that there are people who are still honest and willing to share the wealth for those who are trying to get there the right way.

I say to Rosalind thanks SHOW me what to do! Video training courses work best for me if they ever become available.
