What I Love Most about Affiliate Blogging
It’s 6:45 PM and after 2 long days on the road and nearly 1500 kilometres behind us, we’re holed up for the night in a tiny RV camping spot beside the Skeena River just outside of Terrace, British Columbia – WITH an free wireless internet connection – thanks to our kindly transplanted Korean hosts.
So, I’m enjoying a wonderful view while uploading travel pics, checking emails and moderating comments before finishing up with a game of Kumika and an episode from Weeds – Season 4 on DVD.
Tomorrow we hit Prince Rupert and the next day we board the ferry for an overnight trip to Juneau, Alaska followed by 3 days of camping on Mendenhall Lake before catching another ferry to Haines, Alaska.
So, have you guessed what I love MOST about affiliate blogging yet?
Well, here I am, hundreds of miles from home in stupendously beautiful country and I’m STILL blogging.
You can do this from anywhere – anywhere there’s an Internet connection and I daresay until we hit the Yukon wilderness on the return trip – Internet connections will be plentiful.
Of course, it helps to have queued up posts to be posted to my dating site for the next month (and beyond) as discussed in my Do 2 Days Work – Take 2 Months Off post.
But just in case you wanted to add a post to the mix, you can do that from just about anywhere — just as I’m doing now.
BTW, check our Roamsters.com travel blogs for updates about our latest trip.

Ros –
Gotta love your lifestyle. Maybe i will get a laptop after all.
You could teach Nancy Botwin a thing or two.
Lowell
Hey Lowell,
Yup, the laptop is essential. And you’re right – Nancy could have used my help and spared herself a lot of trouble and anguish. LOL
Ros
Hi Ros,
I was raised in Smithers, so know about the beautiful part of the country you are in. I haven’t been on the Skeena in years.
Have a safe and lots of fun trip!
Hi Barry,
Lucky you. Every time I go through Smithers, I kick myself for turning down the posting. Of course, I was in Ontario at the time and had no clue. On the other hand, I’d probably still be working there and would have missed doing this.
Ros
Thanks for sharing the experience. I too would like to be traveling in that area. I like the forests and rivers. Driving in mountains gives me discomfort. I am a scaredy cat with the narrow roads and step drop-offs.
Hi Leslie,
That’s why it’s good to be the driver… puts you closer to the center of the road as opposed to the steep drop-offs.
Cheers,
Ros
Hi Leslie,
I too am from the Smithers/Hazelton area. Not that many steep drop offs to see along the river, mostly the trees block the steepness and the highways are fairly wide not more than three lanes but the scenery is to die for. Also see loads of wild animals. Imagine my surprise to be driving the Alaska Highway and come around a sharp corner to see a huge bison resting along the side of the highway. There are so many scenes to enjoy that one doesn’t even notice that the drop off is steep in the few places that it is steep.
Have a good trip Rosalind and keep us posted. I’m homesick now!

It’s definitely my dream to be able to travel with hubby and work while on the road. I still have a lot to learn though and quite a ways to go until that happens.
Watched your video “Do 2 days work, take 2 months off” and really got a dose of inspiration from it. I get the idea of pre-scheduling blog posts but what gets me is keeping all affiliate programs/links/graphics/products organized so I can just pop them right in a blog post or to my website when needed. Any tips?
I have learned a lot from you Rosalind and appreciate the time you take to help others. Looks and sounds like you’re having a great time. You deserve it!
Hey Angie,
Thaks for getting in touch… and just keep that dream FOREMOST in your mind.. and it WILL happen for you!
Cheers,
Ros
Sounds absolutely heavenly, Ros! You definitely are an inspiration!!
Ms Gardner,
You are doing Exactly what W will be doing Full Time by the end of this year. We intrend to do Full Time RVing with a base camp in the pan handle of Florida. We just bought a 32′ trailer that we will be living in it while touring the entire U.S.and Canada. When things get to cold or we need a change of pace then we’ll park it at our home in Florida. Between a satellite link and local WiFi connections we should be able to keep things rolling along.
Right now, it’s getting my websites up and creating income following, “The Super Affiliate Handbook” and of course selling our home here in New Mexico.
Thanks for the inspiration seeing you setting beside the lazy-ole-river.
Have fun and take a lot of photos or video.
Oh, I hope you got things worked out with the dealer for the repairs to your “bunk bed on wheels”
Hope you and your partner don’t get into a few days of solid rain. Things will get a little cramped or cozy! That might not be so bad….you sure could get a lot of work done, so to speak.
Til your next newletter.
Rich and Maggie Rynkowski
Holy Smokes!
You almost were visiting my stomping grounds, Ros! Ever visited a little place called Fort St. James? Fantastic historic park here that recreates the fur trade, complete with actors and actresses in the summer. Much like Barkerville represents the Cariboo Gold Rush.
Sounds like you are having a great trip! Just watch out for forest fires.
Happy Trails!
Barry
PS: IF ever you do decide to visit my little part of the world, please let me know as I would be very thrilled to meet you in person!
PSPS: You are not REALLY a Toronto Maple Leafs fan (the chair in the photo) are you? He! He!
Barry,
That’s amazing. I LOVE the Fort St. JHames historic park. Haven’t been there for many years but it’s definitely one of the best and I totally love the lake there, it’s SO beautiful. Was sorry to miss it on this trip.
As for forest fires, we’re running AWAY from them and the terrible smoke in the Okanagan.
As for the Maples Leafs chair, that’s Ed’s. Mine just has a Canadian flag on it. I tolerate the Leafs.
Cheers,
Ros
I lived in Haines, AK for a summer. Very beautiful part of the world.
Try to partake in the salmon bake if you can (and like fish, of course). And if you meet Tresham Gregg in one of his galleries/stores, please relay a hello.
~Jake
Jake,
Unbelievable… talk about small world. I went out with Tresham Gregg many years ago. Wonderful man… and hope to bump into him again in Haines tomorrow. Will definitely say hi for you.
Take ‘er easy.
Ros
OMG Ros, that’s friggin’ amazing. Small world indeed. Karmic or something… I actually haven’t seen or heard from Tresham in many years. I hope he’s well. Maybe you’ll also bump into Annette. I kinda wonder what other Haines characters I met then are still kickin’ around there after all these years. And, I’m linking this post to one of the first HTML pages I ever created, while working for Tresham back in ‘02 (it seems to have been tweaked since).
Sorry we’ll miss you at Affiliate Summit tomorrow, but frankly I think you’re in the more attractive location at the moment than I am (I’ve never been a fan of NYC).
Cheers,
~Jake
What a lifestlye to live. I would love to be able to do something like that and travel around New Zealand before my time is up over here and I head back home or move on to another country. Enjoy yourself.
You are truly blessed person in this world, with just simple electricity and black box of laptop… Wow I envy you and your lifestyle.. Keep up with good post and next time I wish I could do the same.
It is only when I picked up a laptop I realy felt the mobility of online marketing and blogging. Enjoy your Trip, Rosaline.
~Igor
Nice to have such a job like that. Even when you are away from home, you can enjoy the trip while doing work. Goodluck on your upcoming trips and share it with us again.
yeah right!!
blogging while traveling, working while traveling…
so niceeee….
No kidding!! I had to shake my head several times yesterday and today at the coincidence. Anyhoo, we’re just about to leave the port in Ketchikan for Wrangell and points north, so no more internet for a bit… but I’ll definitely stop by and say hi for you.
Have a great time at the Summit and please say hi to Shawn and Missy for me.
Cheers,
Ros
