Perfect Keyboard: My All-Time Favorite Software
I can hardly believe that I’ve never told you about my all-time favorite software before!
It didn’t really occur to me until I was at AdTech in New York and was dealing with the frustration of having to work without it because I’d forgotten to load it onto my laptop … again!
Later in the conference, during a discussion about software with some webmaster friends, I mentioned my oversight and was absolutely shocked to learn that some of them did not use this software.
WHAT?
I honestly thought that all computer users (not just webmasters) would not only know about - but rely on - this fantastic little productivity tool that reduces workload and saves a heap of time.
Check out this video to see how slick how it works.

Rosalind:
Thanks for the tip to Perfect Keyboard. Much better approach than cutting and pasting my link anchor text out of Notepad. Simplify!

Thanks for sharing, that looks like a great tool!
I would be really interested to hear more ways you use it to automate tasks and be more productive.
I can think of a few things to use it for myself, but a couple of the items you demonstrated on the video I don’t think I would have thought about.
Even though I’ve been on the internet for years, I find it both hilarious and frustrating that there are so many shortcuts I didn’t/don’t know about that could save me SO much time.
For instance, and I know I’m bound to sound completely dumb saying this but oh well, I didn’t know until about a year ago about “Find and Replace”. So if I needed to go through a website and change all of a particular url, I would do them one by one.
Turns out with Find and Replace, I can do ALL of them in about 5 seconds!!
I ALSO didn’t know how to create a template that would update all of the pages on my website.
So something that *could* have taken me 5-10 minutes would take me 3-4 hours.
Now that I think back to all the times I spent hours updating each and every page on my entire website manually - I want to laugh hysterically and cry my eyes out at the same time.
My point is, knowing this stuff really helps.

Wow, their website REALLY needs a makeover. I can’t tell what the difference is between the lite, standard and professional so I’m not sure which one I want. You mention the Standard should be more than enough, but depending on what the Pro does I may be interested in that one.

I use this tool extensively at work. I do chat support for a major computer company and i tell you what, this is powerful. the text macros are just the beginning. If you know the basics of programing this can be very powerful indeed. You can use variables and events as well as call programs that aren’t even open. it can even call certain IE windows that have unique title bars. ( like our email form for follow-ups) you can also create forms as well.
from what i can tell one of the major features of the pro version is that it allows you to create executables and special versions of the macros that run on their free macro player.
Like she said, not even touching the surface.
