Perfect Keyboard: My All-Time Favorite Software

I can hardly believe that I’ve never told you about my all-time favorite software before!

It didn’t really occur to me until I was at AdTech in New York and was dealing with the frustration of having to work without it because I’d forgotten to load it onto my laptop … again!

Later in the conference, during a discussion about software with some webmaster friends, I mentioned my oversight and was absolutely shocked to learn that some of them did not use this software.

WHAT?

I honestly thought that all computer users (not just webmasters) would not only know about - but rely on - this fantastic little productivity tool that reduces workload and saves a heap of time.

Check out this video to see how slick how it works.

For more information, check out my article Perfect Keyboard Pro: My All-Time Favorite Software .

Click here to order Perfect Keyboard. The product has a 30-day money back guarantee and is available in 3 editions… Lite, Standard and Pro. While I use the Pro version, the Standard version ($29.95) will be more than suitable for most.

GeurillaMail: Get a Disposable Email Address

I stumbled on GeurillaMail a few minutes ago and what a great idea!

The website provides you with a disposable e-mail address which expires after 15 Minutes. You can read and reply to e-mails that are sent to the temporary e-mail address within the given time frame.

What a brilliant way to keep the spam at bay!

Humanscale Freedom: My New Office Chair

Humanscale Freedom Chair - Saddle SeatEver since my car accident in late August, I’d been having trouble sitting in my standard office chair for more than about 20 minutes before my back and shoulders would start to ache.

Considering I like to put LOTS of time in at the computer when I’m working, so I can take LOTS of vacation time when I’m not, I had to rectify the problem ASAP.

The solution came from Gabriel-Ross and their Humanscale Freedom Chair - Saddle Seat which comes with numerous frame, textile, caster and base color options. (I got the bright red one.)

The design forces you to keep your back straight when used properly — i.e. sitting in a ”saddle” posture, which lowers the thighs and puts the spine into a lordotic curve. Although I’ve caught myself using it like a standard stool, more often than not I’m using it properly now, and voila! no more back pain! Yee-ha!!

Another benefit of the ”saddle” posture is that it allows users to get closer to their work — which is great when your eye-sight is diminishing (no doubt due to too much work at the computer) and you refuse to wear reading glasses. I guess those will be the next purchase. :-)

You can see the chair in action in my Home Office Video.

Rosalind’s Speed PPC Review

I finally spent some time over the weekend playing with Speed PPC by Jay Stockwell, a qualified Adwords professional.

As stated on the sales page, Speed PPC “requires that you have at least a basic knowledge of PPC marketing” and as a result “we can’t give advice and don’t provide training on PPC basics“.

I concur with the first statement completely. The software is definitely not for those who are completely new to pay per click marketing. However, as he obviously knows PPC marketing inside and out, I do think that Jay would have done well to include a basic PPC guide for those keen to learn and take action using his handy software.

And although I’m not sure that Speed PPC will actually help experienced search marketers build their pay per click advertising campaigns “72,500% faster”, it will save users a big whack of time… once they master the software.

Read the rest of my Speed PPC Review and check out Jay’s $100 discount offer for NPT readers here…

But He’d Never Heard of Google Talk

Brad admitted that he’d never even heard of Google Talk when I suggested that we should use it to communicate, instead of emailing back and forth.

Shocking. Simply shocking. :-)

I love Google Talk. The sound quality surpasses both regular phone and Skype, especially when you are talking with folks halfway around the world.

The service is free, and with the Google Talk Gadget you can see which of your contacts are online and send instant messages from your Google Personalized Homepage without installing software.

When you download the Google Talk Client, you can make voice calls, transfer files to your friends and leave voicemails. Better yet, the chats are archived and searchable.

Actually, the service is so easy to use that my 92 year old mother uses it! (She’s also a Skype expert - which she uses to chat with my Dutch cousins.) :-)

Visit the Google Talk main page or learn more about Google Talk here. Happy chatting!

Oprah Says “Thank God for Google!”

During yesterday’s Oprah “Mothers Battle Autism” show, in which Jenny McCarthy discussed her son Evan’s autism, she mentioned that she went straight to Google after receiving his diagnosis to begin researching a way to help her son out of his ‘trap’.

She immediately found a ton of great dietary information (i.e. eliminate wheat, milk and artificial coloring) that did in fact help her to help her son start breaking down those walls.

Oprah responded by saying “Thank God for Google!“.

No kidding. I often wonder how the heck we all actually managed to accomplish anything before we could ‘Google it!’.

As an online entrepeneur, I probably use Google’s services more than the average person. But like Jenny and Oprah, I use Google.com to find answers to all sorts of different questions - beyond the new and weather that I peruse every day.

Questions related to health, finance, entertainment, shopping, TV and technology.

I use it to expand my culinary expertise and experience, i.e. I found a recipe for lamb shahi korma that was so delicious that an East Indian friend asked for the recipe after I prepared it for him.

I also use Google to find fabulous out-of-the-way vacation spots about which my travel agent doesn’t even know, and use Google Earth to do virtual trips around the planet.

Forget wasting money on long distance telephone calls, my friends and I have agree that Google Talk’s reception is better than either phone or Skype, not to mention free. We share and manage project doduments using Google Docs.

That’s just the tip of the Google iceberg, but here is a list of 15 Google services that I use regularly.

  1. AdSense
  2. AdWords
  3. Alerts
  4. Analytics
  5. Calendar
  6. Docs
  7. Google Adwords Editor
  8. Google Earth
  9. Gmail
  10. Groups
  11. iGoogle
  12. Maps
  13. News
  14. Google Reader
  15. Talk

So, like Oprah, I too am thankful for Google and particularly grateful to its creators, Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

So… which Google services do you like and use?
