Video Tour of Rosalind’s Home Office

OK, don’t laugh… or try not too… but here’s my Cannes Film Festival entry… NOT.

I put together a little video tour of my home office (7 minutes, 55 seconds) during which I show you exactly how low-tech an internet / affiliate marketer’s office can be. See the equipment list here…

You’ll see all of the equipment I use - including my computers, printer, keyboard, backup power unit, external hard drive and even my chair (hey! don’t laugh.. your desk chair is one the most important pieces of equipment! :-)) and hear what I really think of some of the stuff I’ve bought…

Anyway, it’s all proof positive that you don’t need a lot of stuff to operate a highly successful home-based businesses on the Internet! Enjoy!

Feel Like You’re Up Against a Brick Wall? Watch this Video

Do you sometimes feel like you’re up against a brick wall or have trouble taking action to accomplish your goals?

Then the video lecture I stumbled across online this morning (and then had the good fortune to see presented again on Oprah later in the day) will kick you into high gear.

The video is of Professor Randy Pausch, giving a ‘last lecture’ before a packed house at Carnegie Mellon University on September 18, 2007. “Last lecture” is apparently a common theme for college lecture series, in which professors deliver a hypothetical final talk about what they’ve learned and want most to impart to others..

Randy Paush’s talk wasn’t hypothetical however, he is dying of pancreatic cancer.

During his talk entitled “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,” Pausch discussed his lessons learned and shared advice with the attendees on how to achieve their own career and personal goals.

Seriously, if you do nothing else today, watch this video. It is brilliant, inspirational and to the point. And if you really do feel like you’re up against a brick wall, take special note of what Dr. Paush has to say about why those brick walls are there in the first place… it should give you insight into how to break them down.

The YouTube version posted below is just shy of 10 minutes in length. If you would like to see the whole lecture (1 hr. 44 mins), it is available here on Google Video.

Saying Goodbye to the Old Sony VAIO

Since security at Toronto International Airport killed my Sony VAIO last Christmas and I determined that the repairs would cost more than both the original computer or a replacement, the old laptop has been languishing in its shipping box under my desk.

Well, during the fall version of the ’spring cleaning’ around the house, I decided that it had to go — but not before Ed rendered it completely useless to anyone inclined to pry.

Ergo, he had some fun removing the keyboard and degaussing the hard drive (destroying the data) last Saturday night.

VAIO SZ Series Notebook VGN-SZ650N/CI carved an ‘X’ into the 10.4″ screen with a screwdriver.

Aaaaagh! What a BAD BAD feeling that gave me, despite the fact that the old thing had been dead for almost a year, and although I actually prefer the VAIO SZ replacement that I bought.

The new VAIO has a much larger screen and keyboard that I can actually see and use. Using the tiny little keyboard on the old one was not fun at the best of times, and I therefore didn’t get much work done while I was on the road — other than to send really, really SHORT email responses — and only when absolutely necessary.

Anyway, we marked its departure with bags of Cheesies from the Halloween cache (see pic upper right) and went upstairs to survey the aging desktops.

Muhahaha… :-)

This is My Halloween Costume

This is my Halloween costume Baseball JerseyI love Halloween. I buy boxes and boxes of chips and candy well in advance - eat most of it - then go out and buy some more.

Treating the tykes is great fun, tricking the teenagers (then treating them) is more fun still and running up and down the stairs enroute to the front door all night is a great work-out.

That said, I’m not a big fan of wearing Halloween costumes. The mask I wore while shelling out last year was suffocating. It was also nearly impossible to see anything, so running up the stairs became ‘tripping’ up the stairs more often than not.

So when we were invited to a Halloween party this year - I knew I’d have to do something different - and CafePress came to my rescue again with the This is my Halloween costume Baseball Jersey shown to the left.

OK, I know it’s a costume cop-out, but I plan to add an orange feather boa to dress it up a bit.

Whattya think? :-)

Jack: My Biggest and Littlest Fan :-)

This is SO sweet.

My Google Alerts led me to Shawn Collin’s (co-founder of Affiliate Summit) Affiliate Tip blog entry titled “Rosalind Gardner’s Biggest Fan” where I found this picture of his son Jack, perusing the Super Affiliate Handbook.

Shawn makes the comment “… it never fails. He passes by Seth Godin, Malcolm Gladwell, Jay Conrad Levinson, Frank Luntz, Robert Cialdini, John Caples and all the rest. Always straight to Ros.

Well Shawn, I’m honored to know that you have my book on your shelf and delighted to see that you’re teaching your kids right and giving them a great leg up in the affiliate marketing world.

Too, Jack may be my biggest fan, but he’s also my cutest fan! :-)

Alive or Dead?

OK, I thought I’d seen ALL of these ‘send us your contact details so you can receive your funds‘ spam emails from Nigeria and the like, but this one almost made me wish I’d been wearing Pampers at the time I read it.

I said ‘almost‘. :-)

Enjoy! Read more

ShoeMoney Parody Site Hilarious

I had a rip-roaring good laugh this morning that woke up the rest of the house after visiting Linda Buquet’s ‘BootMoney a ShoeMoney Rip Off - Friday Funnies‘ post and following the link to BootMoney’s site.

The whole thing is absolutely hilarious, filled with bogus domain name picking tips, a really nifty Keyword Generator and a foundation for affiliates who suffer from ‘BMS’ (Bad-Marketing Syndrome) which apparently is very similar (but not related to) PMS.

But I am most impressed by his car.

Let’s hope that if and when he starts giving training seminars for affiliates that he’ll take everyone outside and let everyone bask in its beauty. Better yet, he should offer a contest and give the winner a ride! :-)

Oh boy! I might have to sign up for THAT one!

How Smart Is Your Right Foot?

This is so funny that it will boggle your mind — and you will keep trying it at least 50 more times to see if you can outsmart your foot.

But you can’t !

  1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the Floor and make clockwise circles with it.
  2. Now, while doing this, draw the number “6″ in the air with your right hand.

Your foot will change direction to counter-clockwise like your hand !

I told you so… and there is nothing you can do about it.
